“Tired and overpriced...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2010

this hotel i tired!

It might have been good once, but it's a long time ago.. It really need a good clean and a fix up.
A really smelly smoker room, even though we were told it was a non smoker floor. The room wasen't clean (still filter from cigarets on the floor on the second day) and only towels for 1 person after cleanup, twice.

all in all not worth it, when there are so many nice hotels in Lisbon

“The other reviews are accurate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2009

Now after visiting the Hotel Amazonia I can see how accurate the other reviews were. Yes, the rooms are adequate if not a little tired, beds are very comfortable, yes you should aim for a room with a balcony, breakfast is good if a little simple. Yes the Sabor & Arte restaurant is a good place to eat. I could go on but I would only be repeating every other review. One thing I could add is the fact that it is cheaper to get a taxi from the airport than arraigning the hotel transportation. Unless you are a solo traveller then the hotel bus is cheaper! First person 12€ second 6€ Taxi about 16€

“Could do better with the staff they have”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2009

The main thing that I did not like is the area. Lisbon is all about hills and valleys and is big with a great expansion of concrete statements (Salazar period) which are know looking rough. Walking down to the old town is couple or three miles and the road system is complicated. Walking back is no fun.

The staff are great and the reception area is spacious and a great meeting place as the bar is adjacent. Breakfast was quite good but the area is a bit spartan. The bathrooms are tired but functional and the air-conditioning old but adequate ( mine developed a bit of a leak on the third day, but they were quickly onto it). The room decor was a bit too dark for my taste but the beds were comfortable and there is little disturbance. The temperature outside was in the mid-twenties at night but the room remained cool enough.

The conference facilities (9th floor) were good and equipment was fine. The panoramic view is great.

“Noisy and old hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2009

We could not sleep at night because the air-con was too noisy. We turned it off but the noise was still there. We realised the AC from all the other rooms were on and the noise was unbearable.
The swimming pool is really small, a large bath-tube, and often there was not enough space for everyone.
The rooms were poorly decorated.
The view from the room was really nice and the location was not bad but not very central.

“Good Value - Well located 3 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2009

Well located, walkig distance to Rato metro station(5 min), Marquês de pombal (10min) and Bairro Alto (20min).
The rooms are clean and spacious for a 3 star hotel, try to get a room with balcony and a view to the Castelo de S. jorge.
Friendly staff. Good value for money
