“Good value for money”

I have to declare a distant connection with the hotel Miraparque. I don't think this clouds my judgement, however, and it gives me some inside knowledge. I've stayed there twice and lived in Lisbon for a few years, also seeing other hotels, so I have some comparison material.

Firstly, it's a well priced, three star hotel, so don't expect the world. It is, however, in a smartish, convenient neighbourhood, close to the tourist centre (reviewers who say they couldn't walk there are lazy and missing a pleasant walk) and very close to the metro.

The outside of the hotel is smart. The interior and the rooms are not extremely luxurious, but large, functional, and clean.

A positive aspect is that this is an independent, family owned and run hotel. The fact that they have owned it for ever also means they do it very professionally.

Being busy, relatively large, and very reasonably priced, service is friendly, but they might not fawn over you.

An average, well-run, clean hotel, which gets extra points for value.

“Nice hotel of great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed 8 nights of the first week of this past January. I picked this 3* over a 4* because 2 reviewers been bitten by bugs in the 4*. The only downside was it was 1 km further uphill than the 4*. Walking back 3 km from the river front and then go uphill from mild to quite sloped during the last km can be a thigh burner. While booking online, I requested a quiet room on a higher floor away from all elevators and stairs. The room was on the 4th of 6 floors. It was tucked away from the 2 elevators and the stairs. It was facing the park as per requested. The room was a good size with a mini-fridge and flat screen TV. The downside of the great room location was poor wifi reception. My wife's netbook couldn't pick anything up while my iPhone can barely snatch the signal with the occasional drop. The staff was helpful and efficient. Our package included a decent hot buffet breakfast. Yes, other reviewers had said the food was repetitive; but a week long, repetition was expected as will every other accommodation. You just have to pace yourself on eating different items. My wife and I found the king bed (2 twins pushed together) firm but comfortable. As I like lots of pillows, I asked for 4 more but got 3. The pillows were a bit too soft for me but were fine for my wife. One of the 2 elevators was rated a 4 person device. For larger people, it is an intimate 2 person lift. One night we returned around 1am and had to ring the door bell to get in. Quite hilarious as it made me felt like a teenager. Overall, the hotel is clean, a great value with friendly efficient staff. Recommended.

Room Tip: If you like quietness, requested a room on a higher floor away from all elevators and stairs.

very well located by the park and very near Parque metro, Pombal and the giant Corte INgles. Really nice small hotel. Clean, friendly, good breakfasts. We booked because it was the cheapest option for a BA package and it surpassed expectations. If you want a great base for exploring Lisbon, without being in the centre, this is a very good option.

Room Tip: despite overlooking the road and the park and being on the first floor, room was very quiet. and th...

“clean,quite and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed 3 nights at the end of Nov 2011 and had a lovely stay. The room was a great size and was very clean (cleaned and tidied every day). The hotel and the room is nothing special but our room had two large windows overlooking the park which was nice. It is just outside the centre, about 15-20mins flat easy walk or a couple of mins away by metro (parque metro stop is just round the corner). Breakfast was the usual continental style but we had no complaints. It has a small bar with a lovely barman that will mix up anything you can think of. We forgot our travel plug but the reception staff were happy to lend us one that someone had left behind. The only negative is it could have been 5-10 mins nearer to the centre centre but it wouldn't have been as quiet and a lot more £'s. Would stay again as it was great value for money.

“Very friendly, wonderful staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This was a nice, comfortable hotel to stay in for our 3 night stay in Lisbon. The rooms are nothing fancy, but it was clean. We had a very nice view of the park as we were in the front part of the hotel next to the elevators. They do charge if you use the telephone to make even local calls (as we did to make some dinner reservations, so watch out for that!), and the wireless internet only worked sporadically for us (although it was free, which was nice). Breakfast was pretty good, but it is really the staff that makes this place so recommendable. They were so nice and attentive, they answered all of our touristy questions and helped us to navigate the city well. They recommended that we take the hop on, hop off city tour bus (Grey Line), which we did end up doing and I'm so glad that we did as it was a great way to see the city. Many of the interesting sights are spread out all over the city and are not within walking distance so this is a nice and relaxing way to see everything while listening to the history of each sight via the earphones that are provided. Bottom line: If you're on a bit of a budget, or would rather spend more money on food, sightseeing, shopping etc., this is your place!

Room Tip: Ask for view of the park!
