“Convenient hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed here for 2 nights on a quick visit to Lisbon. The location is good - not right in the city centre but a 5 minute metro ride away (and the metro entrance is right outside the hotel!) It was nice to sleep in an area outside the main city as it's quieter. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff friendly.

“Nice base to see Lisboa”

Again, this is not where you go if you're expecting luxury. For the 50 euros we paid per night, we weren't expecting more than what we got.The hotel is located opposite the Sao Sebastian Metro station and that is the biggest plus! It's an 8-minute walk from Saldanha square where the airport shuttle drops you off. The city centre is about 4 stops away on the metro. The staff at the bar and the front desk are very, very helpful with recommendations for good restaurants, places to see, etc.
The room that we stayed in was small and the bathroom was tiny. Everything in the room (linen, towels, pillows) looked recently bought. After a long day out in the sun, it felt really good to go to sleep on the amazingly comfortable mattress and the duvet was just right for the 14degrees C outside.
The negative, we thought, was the tiny bathroom that looked clean but seemed to have a strange smell on account of there being no ventilation. It did bother us.
Breakfast was average and included in the price - cereal, bread, ham, cheese, croissants, cakes, biscuits/cookies, cut fruits, tea, coffee, cocoa, and juice. The coffee (with milk) was exceptionally good.

“Good conveniant hotel near the centre of Lisbon”

The staff is nice and helpfull and speak english fluently. The rooms are well equiped with a nice bathroom. The internet is fast, but my VPN client did not work. Breakfast was desent. The hotel is not located in the center but on walking distance and while you walk to the center there is plenty to see.

“A really good place for rest and move around Lisbon.”

The Hotel is nice and clean. Staff very helpful, speak most languages and are very nice all the time. The Hotel is in from San Sebastiao station wich connects to almost everywhere, specially Oriente station and the Marques de Pombal square, where the Hop on Hop off and other tourist buses are. Close to the Corte Ingles, Lisbon's largest Department store. Surrounding areas are clean, easy to walk, speacilly to the Caluste Gulbeikan museum/park. Never tried the breakfast because we wanted to try more traditional food and just beside the hotel there is a Pasteleria with delicious salgados, the most amazing coffee and sweet and nice Pastel de Nata all the ttime. Two things though: on weekends nearby restaurants are mostly close (you can use the hotel's services for this, sandwich and wines are very nice) and the internet in the room is very bad, but if you go to the hall of the hotel you can have a strong connection. If you plan to stay more than three days the 24 hours rate for internet is a good deal, because the clock goes down only if you are connected. We stayed 5 days and paid only 10 EUR for the 24 internet hours, and we still got 5 hours left at the moment we left.I highly recommend this hotel.
Lo recomiendo ampliamente. Bien localizado, los cuartos son amplios y limpios, comodos y el personal muy amable.

“Very poor value for money!”

Pros
Good location to check out the city, away from the hustle and bustle. It is also very quiet.

Less than 20 minute drive from the airport and the Metro is just at the end of the road.

Lots of shops, shopping mall, cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

Room was cleaned to a reasonable standard and you are left undisturbed if you chose not to have your room cleaned.

Air-con in room for hot nights

Check out is at 11! But the staff kindly kept our baggages for 4 hours.

Cons
We stayed in a twin room (although we specifically booked a double room). We were told the twin room is a lot bigger and spacious with a balcony and  single beds.

When we got to our room we were deeply disappointed! The bathroom was tiny with a very basic shower, stains on the wall, the room was very basic with no decor and no facilities i.e iron, kettle, refreshments etc.

We found that there was a safe in our room...the only downside was that there was no lock! We later discovered that you need to pay €1.50 per day to use the safe and we were there for 7 days! Internet is not free and to iron your clothes you need to pay according to the garments you choose (so there are lots of hidden expenses).

Breakfast is VERY basic! We pretty much ate the same things for the 7 days we were there! Poor cereals and no variation.

We did not find some of the staff helpful/friendly and room service is rubbish as we waited 45 mins for a simple order on one of the nights.

The corridor often had a funny smell, like sewage or a really smelly toilet.

All in all...don't stay here unless you really have to or you want to be close to a strip club lol
