This hotel has everything you need for a pleasant stay in Lisbon. From the airport you can catch the Aerobus to the Restauradores stop and walk to the hotel from there. Rooms were small with even smaller bathrooms, but there were nicely decorated and comfortable. The only complaint we had was that there was no shower curtain or door so when showering the water would spray all over the sink, toilet, and floor.
Free breakfast was included in our booking and was above average compared to other hotel breakfasts. It included eggs, pastries, toast, juice, etc. The hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and spoke English very well. I'd definitely recommend the Hotel Gat Rossio to other travelers for it's proximity to some of the sights and the clean, comfortable rooms.

The best thing about this hotel is location, right in the center of Lisbon. And here the pros end. The hotel rooms are very small - we had a superior room and I can't imagine how regular rooms look like. Cheap decoration (no wardrobe, small table, only one chair, no doors in the shower - I would hardly call it "modern design"), reception staff that never smiles, boring breakfast with one type of sausage and cheese - I hoped for more. And one more thing, the vending machines are rather empty - don't count on anything special.
We stayed in superior room no. 410 with large comfortable bed. The room was facing the backyard (see pictures). If you are given a room with street view - watch out, there is a contruction site opposite the hotel (noise from 8am till 6 pm). Anyway, the hotel is good for 2-3 day stays. For longer stays, look for other hotel.

The hotel is well located, right in the center of lisbon, only a few minutes walk to the river and sorrounded by inumerous interest points. It is ideal for a quick visit to the city, and it also stands out by it's unnusual decoration and colours. The only minus was the brekfeast, wich could have some more veriety of choice.

I had booked a "superior" room but "there was a problem" (undefined) so we got a standard room for 10 Euros less. The room was cozy but comfortable. It was short on electrical outlets, there's no mirror in the bathroom (cool guys don't shave?) and you have to close the heavy wooden shutters at night to block the street noise and the green flourescent lights in each window. The down side of that is no light in the morning - So you wake up not knowing if it's 7am or 3am.
On the plus side, the location can't be beat. It's a few hundred feet from the Aerobus stop, the Metro station and bus stops in Restauraderos. There are excellent restaurants in the neighborhood; it's across the alley from the Lisbon tourist bureau. The breakfast is good without being great, seating at padded benches at long tables in the breakfast room.
Nothing fancy about this hotel but nothing wrong with it either.
