“Booked a stay but there was no place when I arrived!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

I booked a 5 day stay on the hotels official webpage (http://www.lunahoteis.com)> I received 3 emails with confirmation. When I arrived at the hotel the clerk informed me that they have no trace of my reservation and also that they are fully booked :-( Showing them the reservation number and the confirmation email did not help of course.

I had to find another place to stay. If you decide to book a stay there be sure to confirm it by phone!!! Apparently they are not up to date with technology.

“Peaceful stay in lovely quiet hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

My husband and I were lucky to get a last minute deal from Sunway Holidays for the last week in June . We stayed in Hotel Clube do Lago in Estoril. We were very happy with what we got for our bargain price.
Though located in a quiet street uphill from the nearest beach it was within easy walking distance of the lively resort of Cascais which has many good restaurants and quality stores not just the usual tourist shops but these as well so everybody catered for.
Beautiful beach in Estoril but many more in the couple of Kms between Estoril and Cascais. Great boardwalk stretching from Estoril to Cascais harbour and beyond. We walked home every night from Cascais, tho it took us more than a half hour, the hardest part at the end from Monte Estoril up a few steep streets to our hotel! We enjoyed the walk along the boardwalk by the sea and felt perfectly safe at all times. Taxis, however, were very reasonable so are an easier option if preferred.
Bikes are available free from near the tourist office at Cascais on production of passport and a cycle path can be used to the west of the town for several Kms with beautiful scenic views along the way.
We had a studio apartment in Clube do Lago which was quite large with a nice balcony.
Breakfast was provided, which was ok except for the orange juice but you can avoid that!
The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels changed. The only complaint I had was the quality of the beds - in a word - dreadful! It is time for a change to decent matresses !
The hotel has a very nice pool and a leisure centre with gym and indoor heated pool etc which looked very well maintained but which we didnt use as temps were close to 30 degrees for the week we were there.
Staff at reception were very helpful but especially Paula who answered endless questions about buses, trains, etc etc. She was at all times professional, pleasant and endlessly patient. Thank you Paula!
Finally, it was easy to travel to Lisbon as trains leave every 20 mins from Monte Estoril station about 10 mins from hotel.
Local buses from Estoril or Cascais can be used to visit the lovely town of Sintra.
I forgot to mention the Casino at Estoril which is a good place to visit for a drink later in the evening - good atmosphere with a jazz band playing , even if the gambling doesn't appeal to you!
All in all we enjoyed a good week in Estoril / Cascais and were made very welcome in Clube do Lago.

“Reasonable hotel but too far from the action.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

Good size and reasonably comfortable rooms withs self-catering facilities and AC. Reception staff were helpful and courteous. We were on half board and although the fixed dinner menu had a limited choice the food was of a good standard and well worth the price. Excellent service was provided by the fabulously eccentric maitre'd. The dining room experience was shared with a number of (thankfully off duty!) Norwegian youth band members who were on buffet service and spent a lot of time rampaging up and down the corridors. Distance from Estoril and Cascais was a bit of a disadvantage - particularly the climb back. We also came across a number of unsavoury characters at the railway underpass to the beach and would'nt risk this route at night.
If we visited the area again we would probably look for a hotel in town.

“This hotel is an oasis in a fabulous area in Monte Estoril.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

We have just returned from a really pleasant stay at the clube luna. The peace and quiet were fantastic as this is a busy area. Even though it is self catering the rooms are cleaned every day, fresh towels, shower and bath gel etc., nice surprise! Some say hotel could do with a make-over but it reminds us that there is nothing wrong with the old saying 'Make do and Mend'!! The breakfast is adequate but dont forget that it is a self catering hotel so you can always buy in your own supplies to your own taste! Pool area is really nice, pool lovely for a swim. Paula in reception was particularly helpful, looking after us from the minute we arrived! We enjoyed a few lovely meals in the 'Pica Pau' just around the corner, lovely and really friendly! We thoroughly enjoyed all the coastal walks between cascais and Estoril. We also got a chance to explore towards Guincho on the 'Bicas' which are free of charge! We had a trip to Oeiras by train, which was nice but head for the coast as soon as you get off the train! All in all would highly recommend this aparthotel!

“Great apartments but a little too far out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2009

Have just returned from Estoril. Apartments are very spacious - ours was over 2 floors and had 2 balconies. Breakfast was adequate. Evening meal was of restaurant standard and Veronica and Antonio spoiled us! Outdoor pool is v cold and quite deep so not for children. Indoor pool is heated and theres a jacuzzi which you can use when not needed by the health club. Hotel has an underground secure car park. The area although v built up is v quiet but Its a lovely walk along the pedestrianised walkway to Cascais (bit of a hike coming back!) which is full of bars and restaurants and a good selection of shops not selling the usual tourist tat. Jumbo supermarket in Cascais offers a vast choice and its only about 4 Euros back to the hotel in a taxi. A visit to Sintra is a must with its palaces and castles. Lisbon big disappointment!
