“Watch out the cleaners about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

Stayed for two weeks, the breakfast is very basic and never changes. My partner forgot her trainers when we checked out a day early, when we called that night we were told to call back the next morning and they whould check with the cleaners. When we called back the next day we were told that the cleaner believed they were rubbish as they were NEAR a bag of rubbish and instead of handing them in to lost property she had 'THROWN' them out. they were virtually new so I personally find that very hard to believe!!

“Smelly room, noisy neighbours, yet hospitable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

Hotel Lido is situated somewhat 10-15 mins walk from Estoril train station. No need for taxi unless you travel heavily.

Stayed for a total of two nights in August. The room was fair enough in terms of size, cleansiness, bathroom standard, etc, but we couldnt help but notice a horrible smell in our room, kind of like sewer or bad plummings.

Also, on the morning of our first night we were awoken by a group of guys who obviously had decided to continue their afterparty into the early hours of the morning. They were really noisy, and showed up at the breakfast buffet wearing nothing but a bathing shorts and with a beer in their hand. I really feel the hotel personell should have done something about these guys.

All-in-all then, an ok hotel, but IMO you can probably do alot better when visiting beautiful Estoril.

“Cheap and Quiet - Very Basic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

You get what you pay for:
Good: Cheap, quiet, good night's sleep.
Not so good: It's at the top of a steep hill between two derelict villas, smelly bathroom, brown water from taps.
Unforgivable: A"Bar" with no booze!! Impossible to get your laundry done - they tell you to fill in the form and leave it with the bag and leave the bag in your room - "don't bring it to reception" . When you get back in the evening and find the bag of dirty laundry still in your room the new receptionist says" you should have brought it to the reception"!!!!
Still, if you want a cheap bed and stay out all day in this wonderful area - go to Cascais - this place will do - as long as you like walking.

“I was happy when we checked out...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

We did not like it, for the following reasons. Bad location (on the top of a hill). Room had severe smell of mould and no balcony. Breakfast was boring, tasteless and the coffee undrinkable. Pool was overcrowded. Staff weren't particulary friendly or helpful. There was only one positive thing - the room was clean.

“Underrated, friendly, quiet with great swimming pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

My brother-in-law, his wife and 3 year old daughter have stayed here for two years running. We visited them, mainly to use the pool, as we live close by. We also had the opportunity to see the rooms and use the pool bar. No complaints at all. There are several ways to get to the beach, avoiding steep hills. Obviously, some other contributors went via the Casino, rather than walking via the Hotel Londres! The bus to Sintra and Cascais stops 2 minutes away from the hotel. Out of season the rates at the Lido make it a bargain hotel, well worth a go.
