“Lovely place - a little out of the way.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

We stayed here for three nights as part of a group.
A holiday village, centred around two pools, with one & two bed villas and a number of full-time residents. At reception there is a little "village square" with a lovely cafe/ bakery/cake shop, a general store and a very nice, very "cool" bar. You can sit and eat/drink in the square in the shade of the orange trees. Two of us shared a one bedroomed/ 2 x singles villa with a huge living room, two bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. All spotlessly clean and well maintained.
A 15 minute walk (turn left at gate) will take you to a number of restaurants including an excellent Italian, a very good Japanese and restaurant Sabores dos Alpes, where Roger Federer eats when in the area. Turning right here leads to the coast where you can hire bikes free of charge and explore the area. Turn left for Cascais, a charming fishing village, very hip and full of lots of great restaurants set in winding cobbled streets. A great place.
Only problem with the complex is its distance from Lisbon. You can take the train from Cascais after a 6 euro taxi from Vila Bicuda or a 40 euro taxi ride to the centre of the city.

“Pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

We stayed in one of the Villa's and loved it. Only stayed for one night but definately would have stayed longer. Everything is at your fingertips here. A lovely compound.

“Not a 4 stars hotel”

Location - very far from Cascais centre.
Bedrooms are large enough for a short vacation.
Living room - very unconfortable sofas. Spoiled furniture.
Ripped towels.

“P P P = Pretty Perfect Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

Found this place after looking in vain for a resonably priced 4* hotel at the end of September.

We were very pleased with what we found. Our 2 bedroom villa was modern, light and bright, super clean, spacious and had a pretty patio overloking the well kept openplan gardens around the large pool.
The complex Vila Bicuda has a very peaceful feel. There is a little "village square" with a very well stocked supermarked, a bakery which serves all the normal things you expect from a cafe and some lunches. Also a restaurant, dry cleaner/laundry, hairdresser, boutique and a kindergarten.
For us the only big minus point were the utterly awful pillows, fat fluff filled unbending things, so we used the sofa pillows, which were much better.
The full size kitchen had everything one could want, but we had breakfeast in the cafe in the square with the days English newspaper bought at the supermarked next door. Perfect!

“Lovely complex”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

Just returned from Vila Bicuda after a truly relaxing week - with sunshine thrown in! We took a taxi from the airport in Lisbon €55, as we arrived at night, but got the train & bus back at the end or our stay. We stayed in a 1 bed duplex over looking the pool & it was very quiet & peaceful, we sometimes had the pool to ourselves. The duplex was very spacious & kitchen very well equiped with everything you could possibly need. The cleaners came nearly every day - some days I told them not to bother as we didn't eat in the apartment. The little bakery sells lovely fresh rolls & cakes & seemed to be busy throughout the day. The small supermarket had the essentials & staff were very friendly. I must mention that all of the reception staff were also very friendly & helpful - some of the best we have met. The only drawback is that you have to get a taxi into town at night - we did walk it the first day - but it's a good 40 min walk - we got the bus back from town but if you don't hire a car and we didn't want to really (the drivers are a bit mad to be honest!) - a taxi will cost you between €5 & €7 depending on the time of day/night. If you want a relaxing break I would recommend it. The town of Cascais is lovely - small - but lovely with plenty of nice places to eat - prices vary, but there is a lovely Indian place we went to called Restaurante Chilly - lovely food & great value a meal for 2 with wine was less than €40. Beware paying higher prices with the fish & seafood - it is sold by weight & while lovely we paid about €40 for a "speciality" fish dish which I think was a bit cheeky! Needless to say we didn't bother going back there. Prices in "Irish" pubs are not to bad, almost the same at home for pints but wine & spirits are a bit cheaper. Lisbon airport it very big so give yourself plenty of time to get to your gate for departure and don't waste your money going into the restaurant near gate 43 - First Class Lounge - is the name of it - we wanted a snack & waited until we got to our gate - the WORST burger ever & paid €26 for 2 for that & a soft drink. It was cold & the "chips" turned out to be crisps. Not only that but it was disgusting - so grab a sandwich on the way up there - ok they charge €4.50 for one & €1.50 for a small bottle of water but it's better than the rubbish up there. We paid €800 for the weeks accom - a bit expensive but we were treating ourselves & enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: seem to offer small discounts on their website
