Two years a go whe had a wonderfull at the Albatroz Hotel. This summer we had a (indeed) very late booking at the same hotel, ie we booked a night before our stay for a couple af days. By arrival, it turned out that they had reserved a chambre at their sister hotel, the Villa Albatroz. Don't ever make this mistake! The Villa Albatroz is not even a glimpse from the Albatroz. It's located middle of the night scene centre, so sleeping with windows open was not an option. Even then there was till early in the morning screaming, yelling, music from drunken hang about youngsters, so we hat to take a sleeping pil every night.
As if it was not enough, even when turned off during the night, the airco from time to time went for an terrible noise for ten minutes and this a few time a night.
Comes hereby a very basic breakfast without any variation during the whole stay; so this was the reason we will never come here again. So be prepared: when you book to the Albatroz, be sure it is not the Villa Albatroz. One plus: staff was very friendly!

Villa Albatroz is a typical Portugese house. Only 11 bedrooms, each individually designed. Our room overlooked the sea/beach. A small bottle of port was left in the room each day, a lovey touch. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were beautiful. The restaurant was of excellent standard. We will definitely be back. Such a lovely relaxing experience. Very central, right on Cascais square. Suitable for couples. Could not find fault with the place.

I have to say that some of the bad reviews here make me think I was staying in the wrong hotel. I was there for five days in May and would stay there again with no worries. It's not a 5 star hotel, more like three and a half. But the breakfast was huge and delicious, the staff courteous and friendly, the room clean, and the location unbeatable. If you want a 5 star location use the sister hotel Hotel Albatroz. But the Villa is a third cheaper and need not hang its head in any way.

The pictures and five stars in the brochure for this guest house are 10 years old! They do not represent the place as it is now, which can only be called a dump. They make it look elegant. The nice looking terrace featured in the photo is an awful shabby slab with old chairs that need new paint and peeling tables. Nothing works--the plumbing, the ventilation, the electricity, etc. The reason I chose it was because it was linked to the supposedly best hotel in Cascais, but it turns out they are just using it to make money by deceiving people with lies from their brochure and blurbs. They are trying to sell it but maybe having trouble. The breakfast is poor, packaged stuff and instant coffee masquerading as real. The room maid would not help me get my bags across the hall. The windows are broken, the shades and curtains are ripped, and at the peak hour for showers there was no hot water! The management might kiss you off with an offer for free meals as a palliative, but don't be deceived--after that they behave as if you don't exist and don't take a penny off for bad service and dilapidated quarters. Also the windows rattle and are not soundproof, so the incredibly loud vibrating rock concert just outside shook the building and prevented sleep. The rooms smell of food odors. What a colossal ripoff!
