Decoration dates back 30 years, with rusted lamps, poor stone floors and concrete ceilings. Despite its fantastic location, right on top of a beach, the windows in the sea view rooms are so old and dirty you can't see outside! We complained that they should be cleaned but no to effect, so we had to clean them ourselves (see the difference in the pictures).

There is a damp smell in the main lobby, and the breakfast room also has the same problem with a total lack of view to the outside, even though on the other side of the window is the ocean. The breakfast itself is poor with little more than toast, and the service also takes you back 30 years...

In the end we demanded that the price for our room be reduced to the same level as those with no view, which we got after some discussion.

If you are looking only for location, its great. If you are expecting anything else, be advised.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel over the weekend of 19th July for a birthday party.
All the party guests had been booked in here, and all bookings requested a sea view - but unfortunately we didn't get one.. but i didn't mind.
All the rooms are very basic, but they have everything you need.
The bed's aren't plush, and the bathrooms are minimalistic, but everything is clean and in working order!

The entrance/communal/bar areas have a general smell of mustiness, but I guess that might come from being by the sea. The place is just hilarious, it really is like fawlty towers - but in guincho.

The pool is great, the little pool bar is great - i was pleasantly surprised by the wine there! But again, the pool and its ameneties are basic, nothing plush.

The views and the location are really the clinchers - guincho beach is just incredible.

We didn't eat in the hotel really, we had a few drinks in the bar, and a few coffees - all were great - generous servings of spirits!

They even managed to russle me up some fresh oj and toast when i'd slept through breakfast - so I can't tell you what the muchaxo breakfast experience is like.. but i didn't exactly hear good things from our fellow guests.

I would stay here again if I was on a budget, for location alone. But if I were on a romantic weekend away, I'd go somewhere with better facilities, and less "quirky".

We stayed for a week in July and really enjoyed ourselves. The pool wasn't super modern but was filled with seawater, was quiet and was staffed at all times. In addition lying watching the waves crash onto the rocks was amazing. Our room was clean, with a nice powerful shower and a great view of Guincho beach.

The hotel was quiet but that wasn't a problem for us and this was the best value accomodation in the area, with the best views.

We only had one evening meal in the hotel and it was very average. However there are buses into Cascais every 30 miinutes and we spent most evenings there. The lovely fresh bread at breakfast was nice, the orange squash wasn't so good.

We luckily only had to stay one night. It was a ghastly experience similar to some of the other reviews already written. We paid 95 euros for a supposedly 5 star hotel. The room we had was probably one of their worst, situated down a dark corridor with the paint peeling off the taps, the floor covered in sand and the furniture badly in need of replacement. A tatty swimming pool made of badly painted concrete, in fact everything was badly painted. The dinner was poor and the breakfast pathetic with orange squash for fruit juice. Probably the worst thing was being assailed by repititious British folk music which they turned off at my request but started up again later - why?
We selected this hotel from Alistair Sawday's Nice Places to Stay in Portugal. I see that he has now removed this establishment. I wish that I had known that when we booked.
