We stayed here two nights on our 16 day trip in Portugal and I picked Bataltha as a city to stay in because it was centerally located to see several sights we wanted to see on our drive down to Lisbon from the North. First of all you couldn't be closer to the monestary which made visiting it when the tour buses were gone easy. Second it was close to Fatima and Tomar and Alcobaca if castles and churches were your thing (which was ours). The hotel is recently redone and for the price (90 euros in Sept) it was excellent value for your money. They still have to work out some kinks like transfering call but overally the service was very good. The real surprise was the quality of the restaurant. Real inventive portugese fare.
