Our hotel (Grao Vasco) is old, yet full of charm. Right in the center of town and very easy to find near the Praca da Republica. Parking on site and easy check in. Our room is very large…lots of space between the beds and a nice balcony which looks out the back and towards the pool. Big, sliding glass doors with a screen. Nice for leaving open for some fresh air.
Drinks at the bar are overpriced...but we found that most hotels in Portugal overcharge in their bars. Better to go to a local establishment and have a drink than in the hotels themselves.
The negative comes from other guests. Someone was having a party or some kind of celebration. It was noisy and loud not only in our hallway, but outside. ALL NIGHT LONG. Closing the sliding glass door didn't help. Honestly, didn't sleep a wink that night. We should have called down to the front desk, but we kept thinking they'd do something about it.
Breakfast was included and was ample. Your typical scrambled eggs, various meats/ham, breads, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, etc. I do love how they serve their milk warmed. Nice touch in Portugal.
Room Tip: Request a pool view on a top floor.
