This is very nice, modern hotel in the beach front. I had already been there without any problem. Not this time, but given that we all have ou personal quirks, I'll be specific.
When we checked in nobody told us that there were repairs ongoing in the hotel. After several hundred kilometers, you don't look much around either, you feel happy enough to see the hotel's door. The result is that I was unable to have some rest at arrival.
I know this is a quirk of mine, but I never give my credit card details just like that. And that's what they want when you check in. I declined and prefered to pay two nights in advance. Fine so far.
When I went for a coffee, and asked to put it in the room's account, they said they couldn't, because I had already paid. My account was closed, and either I paid at once cash, or had to go back to the reception and give my credit card details. this is utterly unusual. They also stated that all Accor hotels were doing it this way -- and do I care.
It was quite dumber than that, but I'll spare you the details. At that point I was fuming and we left; of course they pocketed one night without even providing it.
It's a pity, as it's a very decent hotel. Unfortunately, they set my mind on a negative mood at once, not only with the credit card thing, but also charging separately 9 euros for every breakfast and the such, which would add almost 20 euros a day to the stated cost (69 euros). The hotel isn't worth 90 euros a night all accounted for.
I understand that the town has a casino and they have problems with people who get out without paying. That hasn't been obviously my case ever, and I do not accept been treated like a crook.
I also don't like being treated for dumb, as in "all hotels require your credit card". That's false, of course. Don't try to fool me.
As usual, the personel was embarassed having to enact this sort of agressive managerial decisions.
