Very handy location for the train station (it's just across the street), tourist/ town centre areas, and pleasant walks along the river. Hotel Braganca is good, clean, no thrills, hotel. I stayed for 3 nights in a single room. Very clean, not the largest of rooms, but did have a small wardrobe and a desk and some draws to put your stuff in. On a bit of a down note the walls seemed pretty thin. Which isn't the best if like i was, you find yourself in a room next to a loud speaking portuguese man who liked to hold long telephone converstaions. But there was enough channels on the tv to find something to watch to help drown the outside noises. Ensuite toilet / showeroom was again spottlessly clean, but pretty cramped for a tall guy such as myself. Each floor has a nice communal area near the lifts where people can gather whilst they wait for friends etc to get ready.
Dining room is nice, but from my experience sparsely attended. And its not surprising. The breakfasts (included in the price) are pretty unspectacular. Very average buffet affair, with rolls with cooked meats and cheese, cereals, tea and coffee, and very artificial tasting orange juice.
All in all not a bad, certainly no major problems. Good alternative to staying in a pensão for travellers on a budget. In comparison to some other places i stayed in during my travels around Portugal i found this hotel good value. But for people wanting large luxurious rooms or a hearty breakfast might want to look elsewhere.
