I stay in this hotel a weekend, and the rooms are +/- nice, and we have a pleasant experience. They have a great swimming pool and a spa, with sauna. Nice and hot. But... believe it or not, you MUST wear a swimming cap to go in the pool and jacuzzi! Anyone believe this? I travel a LOT and i never see this in any part of the world today. Maybe in the 70's? Very rude atittude...

Well, i usually dont give negative notes, but in this case, i just cant let go. I´ve only stayed one night, and let me tell you, i was in my room by 23hrs, and only was able get some rest by 3am.
The thing is that the hotel organizes weddings, and so as you can imagine, if you have the unluck of get a room right above the door that gives access to the wedding, you wont be able to get some rest with the noise that people make in this ocasions. I understand that, what i cant understand is why the staff doesnt do something about it?
Well, its a nice hotel if they dont schedule weddings for the night you will sleep there.
Besides that, the hotel has a great view, nice rooms, and its easy to park your car.

I found the Colina do Castelo to be a superior hotel. The attentiveness of the staff and the beautiful location make this one of my favorite places to stay. Unique to many hotels in Portugal, this one has an indoor heated pool. The prices are very reasonable and the location is high on a hill overlooking the city and the valley below. The rooms are comfortable and the food is excellent. It is within easy walking distance to the old city although you will have to walk up hill to get home at night.
