Just got back from spending two nights at this hotel.

Couldn't fault it - spacious room, spotlessly clean, excellent, welcoming service, decent breakfast and fantastic location right on the canal.

Many of the rooms have been recently refurbished and are themed - we stayed in the 'Manhattan' Room 213 which was very nice, spacious and overlooked the Ria (Canal) and small craft market outside the hotel front. Their are other interesting looking themes too so look at the website for more info...

WIFI is free (inc in room) and if you have a vehicle, free parking can be found only a few minutes walk from the property. Right outside is pay and display during normal hours.

All in all, an enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend this place. We will be staying again next time in Aveiro for sure.

The Moliceiro is spot in the most touristy area of Aveiro, facing the main canal and within 5 minutes walk of several traditional seafood restaurants, some nightspots and the fish market. It's also only a little further away from Aveiro's long shopping mall, which also boasts a great variety of restaurants. The hotel is soundproofed so the large crowds of daytrippers on the motor-powered gondolas is no problem. Breakfast is opulent. Staff place hot water and tea in your room in the afternoon and bedrooms are spotless and well-looked after. Nearby El Greccho cocktail bar is a spacious venue with great mojitos, caiparinhas and more exotic drinks. Run by a Portuguese woman and her artistic hubby. Nice relaxed ambience, like Rick's Bar in Casablanca without the Nazi intrusion ! Interesting place for a not habitual cocktail bar frequentee. Moliceiro is a 5 Euro taxi ride from the Aveiro's new inter-city station (2 hrs 30 minutes from Lisbon Oriente - 1st Class a mere 27 Euros - enough to give Branson a heart attack !). Moliceiro reasonable value for money.

reasonably sized rooms that are clean. Will prefer in room coffee maker. reasonably priced with breakfast included. Great location too. All in all. worth the money.

The room was spacious enough, nicely decorated and very cozy. The bathroom had two sinks, it was spacious, it also seemed new and it was very clean. As I mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, on one day by the end of the afternoon they delivered to our room as 2 slices of a cake with 2 candles and a mini-bottle of Porto Wine, together with a felicitations card. So thoughtful of them!
We booked a Venetian Pack which included a tour by boat in Aveiro channels (not as beautiful as in Venice, obviously), a welcoming drink and “Ovos Moles” pastry on the arrival day and some gourmet products in the room.

Breakfast buffet was very nice too. I really don’t understand why some people complaint about it… It had everything if should have, at least in my point of view and nothing was missing (it didn’t have beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and all the hot food I see in some foreigner hotels, but I don’t like to eat those stuff at the breakfast, anyway…)!

The staff in the reception was very friendly and gave us good advises. We had dinner at Salpoente and in the "O batel" and both were very good; we enjoyed more the Salpoente, though.

Parking in the city is not easy, as there are parking fees everywhere. As we were there in the weekend we could park for free, though....We were very lucky on the second day and could park in the 5-6 spots of the hotel, in front of the hotel.

The only minor things I could refer is the pillow that were a bit hard (even if they were quite flat, fortunately) and the fact that the corridors and the halls in the room floors were so, so dark!!! It would be so much better if we went out from the elevator and had light enough in the hall! It was only brighter when the cleaning ladies were doing their job in the morning…
