“Good location, old-fashioned but quite elegant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This hotel is just blocks from the Aveiro canal. We had reserved directly with the hotel by email in March for the September trip and asked for double beds, not twins, and non-smoking rooms with balconies. We got twin beds, no balconies and rooms that didn't say non-smoking, though neither room smelled of smoke. The man at the desk was a bit abrupt, but had excellent English. A free computer with internet access was provided for guest in a space near the elevators.

As it turned out, our rooms were large with pretty views onto the cobbled street below. Also, the included breakfast buffet was beautifully presented and served in the wood-panelled, high-ceilinged large hotel dining salon. A black-coated silent waiter quickly whisked away empty plates at our cloth-covered table with a single rose.

I really enjoyed this hotel for its old-world feel, and would stay again. The 63 euro price with breakfast was one of the best values of our Portugal trip.

“Cheap and Central Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

It is a cheap hotel located in the city centre.
The room and the bathroom were a little bit outdated, but it has a beautiful vintage common room for breakfasts.
One of the best towels I ever used in a hotel.

“Great value.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We stayed there in April 2011. It is an average Hotel in a good location and at 45 Euro for a room including breakfast for two people it was by far the best deal on this trip.

“Great last minute find.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

Location was good to get into the old town and the pedestrian zone is close. Some English spoken by staff and they gave us a good price on a room that had an attached sitting room and a balcony you could pitch a tent on. The view from the balcony was great as well and we could see the lagoons from where we were. Staff really appeared to be trying to accomodate the needs of their various guests and people appeared to be satisfied at breakfast. There was also a computer available for guests at no extra cost. Parking was a bit tricky, but they mapped it out for us well. It was also easy access to the train station for an easy day trip in to Porto if you didn't want to drive there.

Room Tip: Ask for views of the lagoons.

“Great Hotel Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

My wife and I were visiting the area from New York and found this great property. Price was very reasonable for a junior suite with an open balcony and a separate living area. Truly a huge room for Europe. Heating and A/C had separate remote control. Bathroom was large with heated floors. Ample closet space the curtains all worked great. Room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Checkin process was a piece of cake and our included breakfast was really appreciated.

However the even better aspect was its location. We were right in the middle of Portugal's venice. As a hotel owner, I appreciate a good value and well run establishment. Public parking is a block away, we had a great dining experience at Zicco's a short walk away, we enjoyed the gondala ride and everything about our stay.

Get yourself a reservation here and ask for the junior suite; well worth it.
