Hotel Aveiro Palace (formerly the Arcada hotel) is right in the center of Aveiro. It's nice with friendly staff, recently renovated. My first room was a smoking room, but managed to get another room right away which was much nicer, for the same rate. It's worth having a quick look at your room and ask for a different one if neccesary, some have only a small shower + curtain, others a nice bathtub. Size of rooms differs a lot too. One day, cleaning staff accidently left my room-door open so I found it completely ajar when coming back - and the rooms don't even have safes. Due to language barriers my complaint was misunderstood, and the next day room-serivce didn't come at all, but the very friendly staff got all that straightened out in the end. Aveiro can be a lively place and we've had loud music and signing outside on some of the nights.

When we arrived the hotel was being renovated .
It was noisy during the day , and we couldn't have internet in our room (That was going to be fixed , they hadn't bought a router yet,
The good point was our room was brand new and very comfortable and quite at night..
The hotel was being promoted from 2 star to 4 star .
We paid only 59 Euros for the room . One bad point was the breakfast :
The coffee and orange juice was undrinkable , it came out of machine .
The hotel is beautiful and the location is great .
We went out and had a great coffee around the corner at the restaurant Neptuno.

Great location by the canal with Mall and restaurants across the street. Staff were helpful. Great value for the money.

Rooms were tiny but cannot complain as the price was Low. Rooms were very clean though. Internet was paid with low hourly rates. breakfast (included) was a very small spread - good enough to keep you through lunch. TV has only about 10 channels with only 1 English news...so it got boring after a while. And hotel does not provide Iron. Laundry is available.
