Stayed here as part of an island-hopping tour. How wonderful to have a room with such an amazing view across the pool to the sea and the headland opposite. The hotel is designed so that all rooms benefit from the same view, so no chance of single people being shunted off in a poky room overlooking the dustbins!
The exterior of the hotel looks a little tired, as do some of the furnishings, but when you've got a large balcony on which to relax, who's noticing?
Having read reviews of the Azores I was warned not to expect haute cuisine, so I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety of the food, and the drinks in the bar were reasonably priced.
It's a bit of a hike into the centre of the town, but there seemed to be many taxis available.
I'd definitely visit this hotel again - wish there were more like it elsewhere in the world!
