The Holiday was booked via an agent from the UK. I looked at the web site for the Hotel and thought it looked to be a high class Hotel which was new and clean.
First impressions - the location is a little disappointing - on a busy roundabout. It is about 15 mins walk to the harbour and a bit further into town but there are buses and taxis all the time.
The Hotel is very modern and spacious with a bar and restaurant downstairs and another restaurant upstairs. The spa is on the ground floor.
The room was as new with a sea view and a really modern clean bathroom with a fantastic shower.
We tried both the buffet restaurant and the a la carte.
Breakfast is always a buffet. I thought it had a really good choice but they need to get some fresh coffee, the machines are awful. It is like a lot of Hotels trying to please different cultures - the continental stuff was great, bread, pastries, cheese etc - but if you want a full english you will have to learn to love hot dog sausages I'm afraid.
The evening buffet food was really good but I felt that some of the dishes could have been refreshed for the later arrivals for example some of the vegetables ran out and weren't replaced. Excellent value with three courses for about £10. Wine is good value with local wine being about £5 a bottle. Terres de Lava is one of the best white wines I have ever had so stock up at the airport as well. (only £3 !!)
The a la carte was a much better experience. Really good service and food. Obviously more expensive here though.
For vegetarians choice is a little limited and I ordered an aubergine and cheese dish which unexpectedly had lots of ham in it !!! Fish is great though.
The indoor pool is not huge but was mostly empty - the jacuzzis and relaxation area are lovely and always quiet.
For sunbathing there is an upstairs deck area with small plunge pool. Nice but they really need to add a drinks serivce -we had to go up and down in the lift to the bar which is honestly not what I expected from a 4* Hotel. On a general note they do seem to be a bit light on staff and be prepared to wander into the kitchen to find someone to serve you at the bar occasionally !!!
The staff are all friendly though and always polite.
A couple of other points, there are not a lot of children at the Hotel and as the rooms are all high up with balconies and there isn't really an outdoor pool area so I wouldn't choose this Hotel if you have children. It's also a nice quiet hotel so expect a good nights sleep!
Overall a well run, clean and modern Hotel, could be seen as slightly impersonal / business like but obviously that depends on your taste.
