we stayed at the sao miguel hotel in the azores in July 2007. The hotel was excellent as were the staff, rooms were clean and well decorated, my only complaint would be no tea/coffee making facilities. The staff were very helpful at all levels and always pleasant. Buffet breakfast was very good , buffet dinner was not so good, but there are plenty of places close by for excellent food and drink. Avery relaxing holiday just what the doctor ordered. Also an excellent location for all ages

We spent a wonderful week at the Sao Miguel Hotel at the beginning of October. We chose this hotel on the basis of one report as it appeared to have what we were looking for. The hotel and rooms were clean, and cleaned daily. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The staff at the reception were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was the usual fruit juice, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages , bread, rolls and danish or croissants, teas and coffees. We didnt have dinners at the hotel but ate in a different restaurant every night. The meals were always very tasty and at a reasonable price.The hotel was within walking distance of the town, about 10 to 15 mins to the harbour and seafront. There is a Supermacado about 5 to 10 mins walk away and also the Botanical Gardens and the very lovely Antonio Borgess(sp?) gardens are nearby. Where you can sit and have a coffee in the gardens.
The only downfall to this hotel was that what would have been a lovely view from our room window was spoilt by the building site opposite. Ignoring the building works, we had a lovely view of the mountains town and sea. The other problem was we didnt get the requested room with a balcony, as the hotel was fully booked, but as the room had french doors that could be opened wide this didnt worry us too much. A suggestion for the hotel would be for tea making facilities in the rooms although they do offer room service until midnight. We booked our holiday on the internet through Atlantic Holidays (second time) who we thoughly recommend. Very efficient, prompt e-mail acknowlegement, tickets arrive on time, Rep. meets you at the airport and you are coached to your hotel and return to airport. They also offer optional excursions. We did a day tour of the island, which is so beautiful. We also used the local buses to travel around the island, very cheap.

This hotel is really, really good. I must say i really liked it there. I stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks, which was really fantastic. Breakfeast there is really good aswell. When i went to the Azores i thought that we will stay somewhere crowded. Although many people stay at the hotel(but believe me, it wont bother you), not many cars come near the hotel. But what makes it really great, is that there is a big supermarket (Modelo) near the hotel, so if you dont want to eat at the hotel, you can go there to eat and also the big restaurant ''neighbourhood'' which is near the hotel aswell. The hotel has an inside pool aswell, and a sauna. I really enjoyed my stay there, and if you decide to go to Sao Miguel and Ponta Delgada, then i really recommend you got to this hotel.
