Location fullfilled my requirements. Hotel is near to gardens (Antonio Borges and Jose Do Canto) and near to shopping center Parque Atlantico (incl. farmacy, multi banco, super market). You have to do some walking to reach restaurants and marine, but I think that 10 minute walking is just good to increase your appetite. And if You are not in mood for walking because of bad weather, the staff in the hotel is happy to call you a taxi.
Breakfast buffet was great, they had everything. One morning it was very crowded, but staff handled that well. They have lunch and dinner buffets as well (I didn't try). At thursdays they have a azorean cuisine theme dinner buffet, which I tried with reasonable 19,50 € price including wines. It was nice way to taste different local specialities.
I used room service once with good experience.
There is also quite a good health club with sauna, jacuzzi and turkish bath. All free for hotel guests. They close early in weekends, but are open till 9 pm in weekdays. If you have a swimming cap, take it with you, or you have to buy one from the healt club. Using the cap is obligatory in indoor pool.
In general hotel was neat, room was cleanded every day. And in hall way there was a recycling bin. Room were normal, nothing special there, no fridge. Don't expect too much from the balcony. My balcony was thin surface crowded by one chair, and the view was blocked by the roof of the indoor swimming pool.
Hotel is cozy enougf to make you fell comfortable, not too posh.
