Hotel Marina, Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel, Azores
September 9 / 07
The island of Sao Miguel has somthing for everyone, I recommend for you to do your research and find out for yourself how lovely it is. We arrived at the hotel at 9:00 am, the first adventure was to find the main enterance to the hotel, the only way in and out of the hotel was by a locked door at the side controled by front desk staff. The room had 2 of the most uncomfortable twin beds I have ever slept on, it was on the 2'nd floor with a balcony with a ceiling unlike the 3'rd floor. Carpets need to be cleaned in the rooms and furniture needs a facelift, the pool area needs some attention too. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, 5 kinds of assorted bread or buns, oranges, apples, bananas, processed cheese ,3 kinds of assorted cold cuts ,2 kinds of cereal, tea coffee orange juice and hot chocolate for the next 14 days.Times for the restaurant were unreliable,it was cloesd to guest twice because of personnal events. The location was great, you had the veiw of the ocean and marina , great for walking distance to the town, a bar located at the marina was great for a night out but horribly terrible for sleeping day or night, noise from motorcycles, blasting radios, screeching tires and screaming people, old and young alike made it sleepless in Villa Franca, the beach beside the hotel was nice as well as the waterslides. Overall we loved our trip but very much disliked the hotel. It truly is way overpriced for what it has to offer, this was a last choice, our 1'st was Caloura then Bahia but they were booked.
