A five day stay in winter, with few other guests in the hotel,so the service was very personal. A superior room with a sea view is a must to make the best of the location, perched on the cliffs at the edge of town with fabulous views out to sea. Rooms comfortable,though looking a little dated.Great breakfast, but the restaurant was a bit hit and miss in terms of quality, and there is not much choice in the town of Sagres during winter.

My wife and I stayed two nights in mid-December 2011. There were few other guests, and our stay left nothing wanting. Excellent personal service at breakfast (we ate dinner in town just for a change, not for any other reason) and the location really is spectacular. Walks along the nearby clifftop are recommended, but definitely not with kids - no fences!

We spent a few very relaxing and enjoyable days at this hotel. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the cliffs with fabulous views. There are stunning cliff top walks from the hotel. It was an excellent location for birdwatching and ‘plantspotting’. When we were there the autumn crocuses (colchicum) were flowering, which was one of our highlights.
The hotel was reasonably priced for the location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the restaurant. Neither of us enjoyed anything from our starters or main courses, which is very unusual. The breakfast was fine except that some of the cakes and bread were a bit stale. There are fine restaurants in the town so the restaurant would not put me off.

We stayed at several pousadas throughout Portugal and paradors in Spain and this was also a nice accomodation. The hotel sits on a very rocky cliff with little vegetation overlooking the ocean. Our room did not have a full ocean view so I had to imagine how beautiful an oceanfront view would be especially at sunset on the nice size balcony. The breakfast was substantial and had a variety of foods to satisfy a variety of nationalities. The area of Sagres was quiet and much less commercial than the other areas of the Algarve which to me was definitely a plus. I do agree with another reviewer that internet should be included in the rate or complimentary. Many of the other hotels that we stayed in had free WI-Fi, especially in Spain.
