We stayed at The Oceano Atlantico in Sept.2011 for 10 days, first of all we were a bit aprehensive as we had read about the place being 'souless',well you have to remember that these are apartments rather than a hotel. The entrance was quite impressive and the apartments even better. Very spacious and and modern(we were on 5th floor)self catering. We had read that the beds were a bit hard but we didn't find them too bad at all.Nice 32"flat screen t.v ,ample room in living and dining area.Nice bathroom and more than adequate balcony size.We were ovelooking the swimming pool and main rd,there was a lot of traffic but as we were on the 5th floor the noise didn't bother us at all.We didnt use the pool as it wasnt very big and we noticed the same people putting their towels down on the sunbeds first thing and then going off until it suited them to return. The hotel staff did nothing
to correct this so we didnt bother as it wasnt anything to write home about anyway.
It was a good 10 mins to the beach(walk) and restaurants, night life and the taxi's were cheap
(4 euros) and regular. We booked a day trip to Lisbon and another to Seville which were well worth the money ,so we felt as though we had seen something of the place. We cant comment on the food at Oceano Atlantico as we didnt eat therePlenty affordable places on the strip though. We had read about the large hypermarket some 10mins away and it was well worth using it for the few times we did eat in the apartment. We popped our heads into the bar a couple of times but it indeed did look a bit souless. On the whole though,we had a very good base, staff very friendly and maid service very good and we would have no reservations about returning, but would have felt a bit let down if had gone on a meal basis.
We got a very good deal for what we paid £750 apart.and flight 10 days, so we deffinately got our moneys worth, and the beach is beautifull.Weather 75 82 degrees daytime,4th to14th Sept and no rain. Lovely break!!!!
