“A Very nice stay”

As soon as i walked into club amarillis i saw it as very clean and tidy and fresh people may say it was old but that is portugeuse culture. The rooms are deasent , you had lots of room so you wasnt squashed up. The room was clean and tidy and smelled really nice. The veiw from the balcony was amazing if you get the right side you can have a sea veiw but if not on the other side you can see the sun go down which is a pleasant veiw.

The swimming pool was very clean and tidy. A little girl fell near the pool on my trip \nd was treated by the staff emmiedatly which was very good.
The snacks their are very nice but i wouldnt reccomend the main food ans it is not worth what you had to pay

I had a very nice time their and i would definatly reccomend it and come again if possible

YOU WONT REGRET IT IF YOU STAY HERE !

worked very hard all year to pay for a 2 week holiday at club amarilis, never again.!!!After paying for a safe facility we came home from the beach 4 days into our holiday to fid the safe had been broke into and all our cash stolen. There was no sign of forced entry on the door.We complained to hotel management ,who wer very unco-operative and gave us no law. They offered no compesation and the police were of the same manner.I could not reccommend this hotel to anybody and would never go back again. It was a nightmare and felt staff were talking about us for the remainder of our holiday.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“It's an average "timeshare" but location is great”

My husband and I stayed here at the end of May. The hotel could use some upgrades. Nevertheless it's a no frills stay. We only used it to cook, shower and sleep, majority of our time was spent at the beach which was ~2 blocks away. There was no remote control but if you call downstairs, they will bring you one. Our kitchen had the basic cooking utensils but didn't have a blender or coffee maker and no scissors! Also, there's no laundry room in the building which I was lead to believe otherwise. There are local laundromats nearby but it's quite pricey. The supermarket to go to is Continente - it's in a mall and there's everything there (it's like a smaller version of a walmart or target back in the states but with plenty of fresh food). The wine section there is very good and the store is very organized and they also take credit cards which the nearby supermarkets don't accept credit cards that are not from portugal.

The resort did not seem busy at all while we were there. Only occasionally did we see other guests. Our bedroom had twin beds so it was a bit uncomfortable. At night you do hear street noises or the gulls fighting or the dogs barking even though we are on the 10th floor.

Any how, this is not much different from timeshares that we've stayed in Turkey, Canary Islands or Maui but definitely don't expect a great hotel. Also, there's internet in the lobby where you can buy an access code to use the wi-fi or desktop for 15 min, 30 min or an hour.

Large roomy apartment, kitchen well-equipped (m/wave, toaster, kettle, ceramic hob, fridge). Staff very courteous and helpful (willingly moved us to a higher room, and sorted out problems with airport transfer).

“Fabulous!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2009

We are just back from Club Amarillis after a 2 week stay and to be honest we absolutely loved it from start to finish. The apartments themselves are huge with a large dining sitting area. Bathroom has a good mixer shower worked from the bath. The apartment was serviced everyday, and the women work incredibly hard in this area for very little money,so its good to be aware of this and be courteous to staff. The portuguese way of life moves at a slow pace so if you dont get served as quickly in shops or restaurants as you would at home, this is completely normal. It can be difficult to get used to at first but relax you're on holiday! The bar is nice provides some entertainment, but wouldnt be to everyones taste.
The hotel does apply a charge for the use of a safe €20 for 2 weeks which you need to factor into the cost of your stay. There is no air conditioning which means you may have an uncomfortable sleep. You will definately be up a lot earlier with the heat! You can rent a fan from reception at a cost of €10 per week. If you go to the local supermarket Continente you can buy them for €10 so if you were staying 2 weeks or longer that could be a better option. The hotel does get some noise from the street be aware of this. Also you will get noise from your neighbours upstairs moving chairs on the tiled floors!
There is a supermarket in the hotel but it is expensive.!Lidl and Aldi are about 30 mins walk away but its a good hike uphill with groceries! There are local small Alisuper stores nearby and they stock a reasonably good range of bits. Personally I felt it was cheaper to eat out with a lot of restaurants offer 3 course menus at €7.25. I would recommend Claires for a good feed. Humbertos isnt bad either. A tip is generally appreciated and it ensures staff will really look after you the next time you eat there. These are located up near the gypsy markets. There is an all you can eat Chinese but stear clear. Food was lukewarm and a generally stodgy buffet.
The "fly and flop" crowd were in evidence at the pool. There is a charge for sunloungers and they werent all that comfortable. I gave up on week 2 and just took to the beach instead. Its all round a better option.
Be careful on the paths in flipflops they are very slippy and are all through the resort.
There are lots of pubs in the resort to suit all tastes. On the Rocks gets the young crowd as does Kathedral and Moonlight. Take a wander around and you are sure to find something to suit, Cafe Morang on the hill is lovely for a quiet pint and a bit of people watching, as is Claires.
I would definately reommend this hotel and resort.. It offers something for everyone.
