Stayed at Bica Boa for 3 nights over Easter 06. Nice rooms, good food, a nice setting in a decent little town - and overall a sense of calm & peace right thru the place. Susia Cassidy, the manager, runs the place very well & the dog will have had her pups now so maybe there will be pups to keep you amused! Lovely place, we'd like to go back. My wife and I spent ten nights at Bica Boa and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

The accomodation was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent - good quality and large helpings.

The owner - Susan lives on the premises and is around and available to give advice on the area.

Price-wise, we felt that it was great value - main courses were between 7.50 and 11 euro, accomodation 62.50 euro per room per night including a huge breakfast.

If you want an inexpensive holiday in a peaceful setting then I would strongly recommend Bica Boa.

This little guest house and restaurant is about 0.5 km outside town on the Lisbon road. It's a quiet location, but off-road parking is limited. As well as the bar-restaurant, there's are outside patios to the front and side which are pleasant places to enjoy a drink or even meals in warmer seasons.

Food is always excellent, with varied home-produced breakfasts and huge dinner portions. Vegetarian choice is excellent - owner is a vegetarian and Buddhist. There is a small, quiet garden with plunge pool for relaxation. Rooms are reasonably furnished but there are signs that a little refurbishment and repair are needed in places. In view of this, the high-season price is perhaps a little higher than might be expected, but few visitors would generally be disappointed by the overall standard and welcome.
