“Convenient and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

Our family spent 5 nights at this resort. The rooms are widely spread out, but nice, clean, with parking space available. The best beaches are close by but some of the rooms are a ten or fifteen minute walk to the breakfast area. Breakfast is quite good by European standards, The facility rents out towels and beach umbrellas. The only problem we had was when we left; since we had returned our rental car, we had to walk to the breakfast place/office with all our luggage.

Room Tip: Ask for room near restaurant.

“Interesting "hotel"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

Arrived at 11:00 at night and the reception was closed which got me cross right from the start - no doorbell, but a mobile number on the wall. Called the number and the concierge appeared within 3 minutes. Checked in and then taken along the road to our room which was in a separate block about 75yards from the reception.
Had ordered a double bed and was given twin beds- complained about this the next day and was told they only had twins!
Had a ground floor room with patio doors to a grassed lawn and small unheated pool. surrounded by bushes and shrubs- very nice, private and quiet, shared this area with about 4 other older couples- including some grumpy Germans who refused to make eye contact or say hello even though they were sitting 3 feet away.

Very clean room, but basic. I cannot really fault anything in the hotel clean, good buffet full breakfast with bacon, egg etc as well as continental. Beautiful beach 5 minutes walk, mini market and local bar 3 minutes walk, 15 minutes walk to town centre.

The only gripe was the price- for €123.00/night, in Lagos, I expect 4 star accommodation and service- this hotel is 3 star at best.

“Great hotel, spacious rooms, perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

Costa D’Oiro Ambiance Village is a great little resort with a good location. It’s walking distance from both the beaches and the bar scene, but it’s far enough from the main center that you’ll be able to get a good night sleep and not have to listen to the partying crowds. If you’re looking for that scene, don’t stay at Costa D’Oiro. Find a hostel near the main square. Costa D’Oiro is much more relaxed and more suited to the families rather than the backpacking college kid.

What made this hotel stand out from the rest of the places we stayed in Portugal was the size of our hotel room. I wouldn’t even call it a room, it was more of a suite with a full kitchen, fully stocked with all the cooking supplies we could have needed, living room with satellite TV, spacious two bedroom with another satellite TV, porch and outside area with a table. They also offered a full complimentary breakfast in the morning (with all you can drink mimosas), but don’t bother with their restaurant – the food there is so so.

“Very nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We found this hotel very, very nice. We had a warm and polite welcome after a long drivce from Lisbon. We stayed eight nights in a big room with balcony facing towards the garden. The room was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom likewise.
The breakfast was one of the best ever!!!
About 15 minutes walk into the center of Lagos and two wonderful beaches five minutes away (Praia de Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo).
We attended the BBQ night by the pool, but this was disappointing. The food was not more than OK, but the wine selection was very good.
All in all a great experience, and I highly recommend this place.

“Our holiday were the most memorable and the best in this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

In Portugal, we lived 9 nights, in 4 hotels, but our holiday were the most memorable and the best in this hotel. First, this hotel is in the most beautiful area in Portugal. Also we are very impressed with Portuguese hospitality and friendship. Hotel's staff is wonderful, such hospitable staff we are not accepted in any other country. We came with 10 months age baby, the staff kindly escorted us to our room, we were very pleasantly surprised, the room was bright and spacious with a comfortable kitchen, and only two steps away from the perfect pool. They have chosen us the room on the first floor with a nice terrace. With small children is very convenient to live on the first floor and we were pleased that they thought about it and we even did not need to ask for. Also, we were ordered breakfast and dinner - half board. Breakfast was excellent, and the dinner was perfect, as well as every day we were surprised refined and delicious cuisine, the restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. I was also very pleasantly surprised when on my birthday the hotel's worker knocked into our room with a bottle of champagne. It was a very pleasant surprise. Thank you very much.
Before leaving, we noticed that our baby carriage was broken, we told the room manager about it, and she immediately call the staff who corrected it. Indeed we were impressed with friendliness and hospitality of the Portuguese again. Our vacation was the most beautiful and we were very sad to leave this friendly and beautiful country. We will recommend this hotel to everybody as a very high standard hotel, with friendly staff and located in the most beautiful area of Portugal.
