Nice rooms which are cleaned most days. Pool area clean but windy which can make it cool at times, although on the otherside of Lagos it isn't windy at all!
The walk into Lagos is a good 20 minutes and mostly downhill along a pavement covered in dog muck!! Not very nice. Taxi best for the walk home.
Walk down to local beach is about 10 minutes, nice beach but very busy. We prefared the town beaches although the walk was longer.

We had never been to Portugal before, but my Australian husband wanted a beach holiday where he could swim in a 'real ocean' and I just wanted something relaxing and sunny. Vila Mos, just outside Lagos, fitted the bill.

At first we felt that the apartments were further away from Lagos than we anticipated, but once we sorted out where the bus stop was and knew the times of buses, this was not a problem. We always returned from town by taxi as these are plentiful and very cheap. In the end we decided that we preferred this location to being in Lagos because we were just a few minutes walk from a very good beach (Praia de Mos) and the bus route into town also passed the very picturesque Praia Dona Ana.

We had a studio apartment for 3 which we were very pleased with (cleaned daily). It was very large with a kitchen and also a pretty garden terrace. We paid a little extra for a sea view which was visible from the terrace just to one side. I personally think it was worth paying for as it wasn't too much extra. My daughter slept on the sofa bed which was fine, but our beds were a little on the hard side. This was definately one of the better apartments we have had in the different countries we have visited.

The hotel complex is very neatly laid out on the side of a hill. The pool is lovely and so are the gardens and children's play area. There is a path which leads down to the beach (just a few minutes walk) and there are 2 restaurants at the beach both of which we used. After 7pm the hotel path is closed, so you then have to walk back by a different route. We spent most of our time on the beach and made occasional use of the pool which in the afternoon tended to become quite breezy. I have to say that this area has a lovely climate with the cooling beeze of the Algarve!

We went to Lagos several times and had 3 evening meals in pretty good restaurants - if you love grilled fish you'll be in heaven. There are plenty to choose from. We liked O'Pescador and Meu Limao (tapas). Lagos is quaint with narrow winding streets and lots of local colour.

All in all a very peaceful, enjoyable stay

My husband and I stated at the Vila Mos hotel for a week. First impressions were good. We did self catering. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Staff were really helpful, the pool was clean. The hotel is not very big which was perfect and it is also located in a quiet area. Great for a relaxing holiday. The town is a short bus ride away and there is a small beach practically behind the hotel. There is a great shopping area and larger breach in the nearby town.

It is an expensive area so we would have brought more food from home if we'd known. For example, coco pops cost over 5 euros in the local shop. The apartments on the ground floor are totally open plan whereas the ones on the top have the bedroom in a separate area. Overall, we had a great time and would defiantly return. In fact, we're already planning to stay at Vila Mos again next year.

We were taken by surprise with Vila Mos, it was much better then we expected; huge apartment, spotlessly clean and fab service...Delores on reception is extremely helpful. Just a 5min cab ride (about £4.50) from the wonderful Lagos and a 10min walk to the lovely beach. For an easy going great value family holiday we would really recommend here; in fact we intend to go back next year!
