The people here, all 3 that I met, are wonderful, helpful and friendly. Free wi-fi is great. The breakfast lacks hot foods, but is otherwise fine considering the status of the hotel, with cold cuts, cereal and the like. The hotel, for this star rating, is beautifully kept, clean and modern. It is well located right behind the main square, too--perfect to get there in a hurry, and yet be a little insulated from the hustle and bustle. In many respects, this is a real find, a reasonably priced little gem in a faraway place. There are a couple of issues, unfortunately and one or more may be deal breakers: a) you can access the hotel either by a long staircase from the main square (Gil Eanes, an easy walk from the bus station), or by walking around to the back of the square (the street going up a little from the left arm of the Rei statue leads you to the hotel). It may be hard to get up the steps with a lot of luggage, but going around while slightly longer is pretty easy. Once in the hotel, though, particularly depending on what wing you're in (it is as if two buildings were combined at some point), there may be more steps inside that the elevator can't cover. So, if you're disabled or the like--this may be a tough place to navigate on the whole. That's the more minor issue, unless you’re disabled or really carrying lots of luggage. (b) The major problem—boy, the walls are thin, at least in my room they were! This is not a problem unique to this hotel, but it is a huge problem here. You can hear every word--or sex act--taking place in the next room without problem. It doesn't even seem a little dulled. I've run into this before, and at far more expensive and lofty places, but it is pretty blatant here, which is regrettable. It is hard to deal with when it seems like the people next door are actually in your room. I'm not sure I could stay here again.
Room Tip: Try getting a room next to a closet--maybe there won't be neighbors on the other side, and you c...
