We first visited this hotel three years ago (when we were so overawed by the beauty of the area, we got engaged!). A return visit found the hotel to have a new name and a new look. This place really is excellent for the price you pay - simple, clean accommodation with a balcony and a rooftop pool with a view of the sea. The location by Praia Dona Ana is wonderful too - it's a picturesque and lovely beach with a restaurant that serves great food overlooking it. The only downpoint of our stay was a large group of US backpackers (who'd arrived on tour buses) running up and down the corridors screaming and knocking on doors from 1am - 6am on our final night - just when we needed sleep for a flight! I would have given five stars if it wasn't for that. Other than that it was so lovely though!! Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is also a short walk to Lagos, where you can find shops, restaurants and bars.
The Jam, Three Monkeys, Eddie's and Stones are great bars with great drinks and a great atmosphere. The Wolf's Lair seemed OK at first but the staff had an attitude problem and while the cocktails were cheap they always had the wrong ingredients of them and were as weak as water. We had some great meals at Venezia and two other restaurants on the same street. And near the taxi rank there is a great little restaurant on the corner where the lady serving you works harder than anyone I've ever met - all with a smile on her face and amazing service. The food was amazing too.
