We have recently returned from Canavial apartments. The place is situated on the outskirts of lagos in a peaceful location. The apartment was clean and tidy with adequate cooking facilities. Our only reservation was the patio/balcony area, it offered little privacy from your holiday neighbours. The pool and gardens are superb offering a peaceful scene.
The local mini market is a 20 mins walk, the old town of Lagos 30 mins walk and the nearest beach 10 mins walk.
There is no reception, the maid deals with all enquiries. The maid was friendly and helpful.
We shall return.

Do not be put off by the so-so reviews of the Canavial Apartments, we have just returned from there and had a great time!
You do feel after the 2 hour plus transfer from the airport that you have been dropped in the middle of nowhere, but the beach with two restaurants is less than 10 minutes walk one way and a supermarket with more excellent restaurants( we recommend Dom Louis)less than 10 mins walk the other way.Lagos is about 25 mins walk but well worth it.
The Canavial Apartments are both clean and quiet with a very friendly atmosphere as you easily can make friends with fellow travellers.
The rooms have plenty of space and are well equipped. The gardens and pool are well looked after and make for a relaxing place to sunbathe and swim.
The holiday rep was there everyday and we never felt that we wanted for anything (other than extra toilet roll, which the Canavial has now become famous for!) Highly recommended.

I was so worried about staying at these apartments after reading some of the reviews but I have to say we were very happy with the place.

The Canavial 1 was very clean and the pool area was lovely you never felt crowded.

I agree that the rooms are basic but there is everything that you might need, we were on the second floor and had lovely views over the gardens towards the sea.

It is a short walk into town which we did a few times in the evenings rather than take the car with some lovely restaurants. I would say it is worth hiring a car as there are lots of things to do but they can be quite spread out.

It would be fair to say that some improvements could be made but they are small things such as supplying a bath mat and loo roll (you have to supply your own) but overall we had a lovely time and would be happy to stay there again.

A note of caution although we were aware it was a long transfer when you book your holiday I dont think you always really think about it!! It took nearly 3 hours from Faro Airport bacause there were so many people to drop of I would never go by coach again as it was horrendous.

Accommodation suitable for what we wanted, basic and clean, could be dark when shutters closed. Only half a toilet roll for two weeks and no bath mat. We arrived last off the transfer bus at 22:15 on a Saturday, we were shown a supermarket as we passed to our accommodation which was closed. No use if you needed anything (water) or you had young children with you.

15 min walk to the tulip roundabout and found the Dom Luis excellent food and good company very helpful. The apartment was on the edge of town a good 25min walk into Lagos (if you knew which road to take) a good idea to hire a car for two weeks from this side before you go and pick up at airport on arrival. Travel company a bit vague on the position of the apartments and very steep to beach not for older of disabled.

Enjoyed Lagos and surrounding area visited a few beaches out and about in the Algarve, we will return to the Lagos but maybe not accommodation.
