“Nice apartments and friendly people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

This is a perfect place for families to stay and enjoy the warm and friendly Portugal atmosphere.
The apartments (we were in a standard bungalow) are well furnished, have enough room, and have a terrace (and/or garden) to sit outside and enjoy the lovely weather. It is cleaned 5 times a week and the beds and towels are changed 3 times a week.
We were in off-season period, so it was not crowded and nice to and the day at the pool for the kids to enjoy and ourselves to relax.
Although the resort and the little town of Carvoeiro offers plenty to see and eat, it is advisable to rent a car and make beatiful daytrips across the Algarve. We didn't like the buffet in the resort, but the italian restaurant is OK.
Also, we saved a lot of money to not book the resort through a travel agency, but to do it all by ourselves (we used booking.com, RyanAir). We were lucky that we had no cancellation costs, as the price of our bungalow dropped one third of the price two days before travelling, so we could cancel and book it again! Saves you yet more money to spend in nice restaurants!

“Good value apartment”

We stayed here for a few days to visit the southern beaches of Portugal. The "apartment" was very simple, but spacious. The kitchen utensils were a bit outdated, but clean. The pools were ok, cafeteria ok, location ok.... in other words the resort is ok, but nothing else.
I would pay the 30 euro per room more and taken something of WOW value.

“packed with TUI travellers which means it must be good and cheap.”

This place is huge! Yet quite hard to find!
Be aware that the accommodation varies here from private villas to standard twin rooms with no TV. So be sure of what you get in advance. The prices are very fair though! This means that you will not likely get the villa for 80 EUR/ night/ couple:)
We booked a double room through booking.com for 3 nights on a short notice. Got an excellent price, but were offered a pretty crappy twin room when we arrived. I explained the difference between twin and double to the receptionist but there was nothing he could do for our first night (the truth was that he was a lazy adoubles receptionist that didn't want to be bothered). The second day things got a lot better when a nice German lady receptionist gave us the double room, with also a much better location (you don't really want to stay on the outskirts of this huge village, but closer to the center)
The place is actually packed with German families, and a lot of employees seemed native German speakers. I'm just saying this to describe the vibe of the place, this is definitely a TUI kinda' place.
Breakfast and dinner (half board accommodation) were EXCELLENT!
The place is pretty lively and would recommend it except for the things stated above. Excellent place for families with kids, it is kinda of a small town on its own.
As for us, we had a car and went to the Marinha beach which is the best beach in Albufeira!
How to get to the "quinta do paraiso": there are 2 main parallel streets in Carvoiero (both one way streets): one that goes towards the beach and one that goes back. When you are going towards the beach, make the first right after the street becomes paved with stone (instead of asphalt) and start climbing! your path will be decided by all the one way streets; be prepared to climb a lot, at at the first crossroad with multiple choices you will find a small sign (amongst many others) for quinta do paraiso.

“We loved it!”

I stayed at this hotel with my sister and 25 year old daughter for a short break. The one bedroom appartment was fantastic, very clean and very modern with everything that you need to stay for short or long holidays. The kitchen was amasing, very modern with a washing mashine and huge fridge freezer, all of which were built in behind unit doors.
The swimming areas are lovely and well kept. You can select to go by a quiet pool amongst the gardens or use the bigger pools down by the reception. We were self catering but ate at the restaurant that was on site. The breakfast choice was also very good and cooked to order. You could also have the buffet breakfast for 8 euros, which was also very good.
The town was a short 5-10 mins walk away, but they do offer a free shuttle bus to the town/ beach and back, 3 times a day.
The only problem was that our appartment did not have air conditioning, which at night made it very hot. As the hotel is in a quiet area you can open your windows all nite for fresh air.
I will be going back to this hotel, hopefully in September.
Would deffinately inform people to go here if they want a quiet, relaxing holiday.
There is some entertainment in the evenings, which is also very entertaining.

Room Tip: 1 bedroom apartment is ideal for 4 people

“fab holiday”

we booked a 3 bed villa with private pool through Travel Republic, as a result we didn't know which villa we'd be staying in 'til we arrived. It was the Casa Carina (Villa 12). The villa was enormous, 3 large bedrooms, 3 large bathrooms, massive open plan lounge/ dining area & a reasonable sized kitchen. The garden was also huge, you could easily have fitted a further 2 villas in. In general, the whole 'quinta' area was very open and spacious - it would take in the region of 25-30mins to walk from one end to the other.

The communal pool area was very clean and also very spacious. We ate in the pool snack bar a couple of times and the food was typical snack bar stuff and a reasonable quality. we went to some of the evening entertainment and the staff worked hard to get everyone involved but I think it was just too early in the season as it was fairly quiet and most guests had young familes and left by maybe 9pm.

Our 5yo went to the kids club a few times and loved it. Nearly all the children were german when we were there but I guess this changes depending on who's holidaying that week.

We hired a car for the holiday and found that between the saving from not taking the resort transfer and the savings from being able to shop at the large supermarkets it more than paid for itself. We thought we'd hardly use the car other than this but found we used it pretty much every day. Laziness maybe but everything's a fair trek when you've got two young children.

The main resort is within walking distance but it's a fair old climb home. We took a taxi if we were out on the evening & I think it was something like 5euros to get home.

The Monte Carvoeiro complex is about a 5min walk away and has a really nice courtyard with lots of really nice restaurants and bars and much closer than the main resort. It's also very child friendly as there's a large area in the middle where they can run around with their friends and be seen from every bar/restaurant and no traffic.

we really enjoyed the privacy and space of the villa but it was nice to have communal areas too for socialising and would happily return here again
