We have just returned from a lovely family holiday in Portugal staying at the Vila Gale Nautico. After reading some of the reviews before going I was a little worried but need not have been, the hotel could with a few minor tweaks have reviewed all 5 stars.

Good points.

- Friendly staff esp Miguel in the bar - after just 2 days he knew what drinks we had and even made up child friendly cocktails for our little girl which went down a treat with her!
- Clean - maids were brilliant, clean towels every day and even arranged our daughters nightwear into different shapes each day and put her dolly to bed!!!
- Close to the town and within walking distance of an English pub the Water Dog, which sells Carling and Guiness - Charlie and his staff very accomodating :)
- Close to beach
- Not too busy and relaxing - mixture of Portugese, French, English and German visitors.

Bad Points
- Evening entertainment rubbish and kids club definately veers towards the Portugese children.
- Could do with more of a selection for childrens meals.
- Outdoor pool was freezing even after the hot sun had been on it all day.

Stayed here in July and had a really good break here. Here is a list of good points.

- Not too busy and relaxing

Bad bits
- Weird hotel signage, especially when you get there tired
- Not so good entertainment
- Two hours from airport
- Outdoor pool was cold, even in July
(Nothing too bad at all, only reason I'm not giving five stars.)

My husband and myself have just returned from this hotel. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived, the reception looks a bit sad and in need of a refirb, but when we got to our room and see the rest of the hotel WOW its lovely. The rooms are so clean and fresh, cleaned every day, we had a sea view room at the front of the hotel which was very quiet. There was a good variety of food and two nights they put on a bar-b-cue. The staff are very freindly and helpful. The location is good just a short walk to the local shops along a beautiful promanarde overlooking a fantstic beach.
We had a wonderful week at this hotel we will be going back.

Beware- my son of 14 was expected to sleep in a put you up bed only suitable for small children- even worse it completely blocked the sliding patio door I understand this is quite normal and other people we spoke to were experiencing this problem. e did finally get moved to a family roomon the Saturday- arrived on Thursday- but only after we complained a lot !!
