The Hotel where can I start upon arrival we could not get in despite being within the hours listed outside. Reception is on the 3rd floor the signs send you along the ground floor. We waited an hour for the manager/receptionist to show. We paid and were shown to our room.
A rather dated apartment it consisted of a 60s (Very) small bathroom and a living room/bedroom/kitchen see photos. In the info on the hotel they say they have updated the soundproofing this consists of polystyrene tiles on the ceiling a thin double-glazing still noisy (must be bad in high season). Despite this you can still hear the people in the room above. The pool looks bigger in Hotel info and would be ok to cool off in.
We were told that towels would be changed every 3 days, as would the sheets and the room cleaned daily…….. Well towels were changed on 4th day sheets never and the beds being made consisted of the pillows being moved and blankets pulled down. No surfaces were wiped apart from the bathroom which was in need of a deep clean (see pics).
The only other point, which concerned me, was my credit card was charged 50% of the fee 5 days before arrival. There is no mention of a 50% deposit fee .
Now after the moaning the hotel is well suited to young travelers who want to be in the heart of Albufeira It is 2 mins stroll from the village square and 3 mins from the beaches. There are good choices of Cafes and bars very close by. A secure car park and free WIFI. Breakfast we paid for the first day was ok and cost 3€ and was served upstairs in the bar once it was opened at 9.We paid 100€ for 5 days so this was fair and I am used to backpacker standards and living when traveling this is what this place should be.
The only bit that puzzles me is that this place is a 3* and the Lar Do Areeiro was a 2* and the two places are not in the same league at all. Could someone explain the Portuguese system of stars?
