“WORST ACCOMMODATION EVER!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Apartments Regina, Albuferia =WORST ACCOMMODATION EVER! Venere Holiday Accommodation Company = WORST ACCOMMODATION COMPANY EVER! I booked this accommodation over the telephone with Venere. Firstly I was told that transfers were included with this deal when I called Venere to book Regina Apartments, Albuferia. There were no transfers included! When we arrived at the accommodation@ 4pm we were told to come back in 2 hours that the accommodation was not ready! Strange as the stated check-out time is 11am! On arriving back we were shocked at the accommodation we were given. The apartment was small, old and the smell of disinfectant was enough to send anyone into a coma. The air-conditioning did not work, nor the television. The “self-catering” element of the apartment comprised of a 2 ringed electric hob (no oven, or grill), a microwave and a kettle (from which little particles of the heating element came off into the water once boiled!) I told staff about the air-conditioning and the tv and was told neither could be fixed until the next day. . I asked to be transferred to their sister hotel but again, was told they were all full. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was not in until the following morning. We spend a very uncomfortable night in the hot, smelly apartment with the noise of cars and disco music coming through the open windows all night. So much for the “quiet location!” I emailed the sales rep in Venere who had confirmed my booking to complain but to also ask for urgent help as I was deeply concerned for my elderly father’s welfare in such conditions. So much for customer service, I am STILL waiting for a reply! We got moved to another apartment, which, again was old and smelled like it had not been aired. The microwave had no turn-table plate and the tea-pot leaked. The fridge door was half disintegrated and the entire place was run down. Across the street there was disco music blaring until 4am each night. When I asked the manager about moving to a quieter apartment (at the rear of the building) he said it was a noisy area in general…if I was told this by the Venere rep I would most definitely not have booked this accommodation. On several occasions, late at night (when I was woken from the noise across the street) I saw cockroaches in the bathroom and kitchen work-top area. When I brought this to the attention of the staff I was told this was normal for the time of year! I think not! I have stayed in several hot countries before where cockroaches exist and have not had to share accommodation with them! Don’t ever book with this company or if you do, don’t expect any level of customer service or help if things go wrong!

“Do NOT stay here!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

We were moved to the Regina Apts because the Hotel Da Gale we had booked had been closed with no notice for refurbishment even though they had taked our booking for the full period of 1st October 2011 until 8th October 2011. The Da Gale closed on the 6th October and we were moved to the Regina which is apparently owned by the same people. The room we were given (Apartment 16) was old, had old water ingress stains across the ceiling and down the walls (although these were dry) and was not very clean. Although the floor looked clean it didn't appear to have been cleaned under the beds which was quite dirty. The bathroom, if you can call a tiny cupboard that was accessed by squeezing through a 9 inch gap when the door was opened as far as it would go as the door hit against the toilet bowl and would not open fully, so you had to squeeze through between it and the washbasin. The toilet bowl wobbled on its footings as it had obviously been knocked and pushed so much. The bath was old and scaled and looked dirty. Anyone of a more portly persuasion would not have been able to even get in to the bathroom,
The kitchen area was terrible and consisted of a double portable hotplate, a toaster with a shorted out electrical lead, a kettle - all chained to the walls, presumable to deter theives and a small fridge which was rusty and unhygenic to say the least. There was also a microwave (again chained up, as was the iron in the living area). My wife bemoaned the fact that there was no hair dryer in the room (which must have managed to slip its chain and disappear in the night). On asking to borrow one she was refused as all the others were chained to the walls of other apartments and could not be removed. (I have christened our missing one 'Houdini')
The only thing I can say in the apartments favour was that the bedding, pillows and towels were all clean and the beds were very slightly softer than the ones at the Da Gale.
The other couple who were moved out of the Da Gale with us were given room #23 which was directly above #16. This room had a balcony, making it much smaller than ours but the condition was much the same. The furniture on their balcony consisted of 2 broken plastic chairs which were also filthy. As they had more than a week of their holiday to go, they moved out immediately and found other accommodation elsewhere.
Having only 2 days to go until our holiday finished we roughed it out and only used the apartment for sleeping.
The pool on the roof of the Regina was dirty with paint peeling from the floor of the pool. The sun beds, where they were not broken, were stained and dirty. I have never seen such an unhealthy looking pool area.
There was a terrace however with decent cane furniture and umbrellas which was reasonable for sitting around.
I must say that we found the men who staffed the reception to be surly, although the girls who worked there were friendly and helpful, although they were only trainees and not able to do a lot. At no time at either the Regina or the Da Gale were we able to speak to anyone in management or the owners.
We managed to put up with it for the last 2 days of our holiday but would advise anyone else not to book there under any conditions.

Room Tip: Do not book this apartment/hotel

“Please don't go there!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

I can describe the short staying of 20 minutes in this hotel as the worst in my "travelling" life. The pictures misled me to choose this hotel for a nice price but after all I had to look up for another place at 23:00 to spend the night. Resuming: there are cockroaches everywhere, the walls and ceilings are black with humidity, air conditioning doesn't work in some rooms because the electrical wires are off and everything is pretty old. The Regina hotel should be closed to public.I booked it in a hurry just for one night and I'm really sorry I didn't read all the other reviews!

“More like a hostel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

3 of us girls stayed here, all aged 18/19, we basically wanted somewhere to crash and shower for the week and that's what we got. when we arrived there were only two beds in our room and a sofa (not even a sofa bed), so we moved the sofa into the bedroom with the two other beds and had to take turns as the sofa was not very comfortable. sheets and pillows were clean. there was dirt and bits on the floor so if you walked around bare foot your feet would go black. the kitchen in the wardrobe was handy as we used the fridge a lot to keep our water cool. 5mins walk to the old town, 5 minute taxi ride to the new town strip (5 euro) and 5mins walk to the beach-so very good location. there are only two members of staff, a women and a man but only one of them would work at a time. the bar was never open, the reception opened at midday and closed at 8pm. one night we got locked out our room and as the reception didn't open until 12pm the next day we had to stay awake all night on the sofa provided near the front door. we needed to confirm our transfer home and man wouldn't let us use their phone. the hot water only lasted 30 mins so we all had to have a shower within 30mins or someone would have a cold one. there was no security at night, so basically was a hostel. other than that we enjoyed our holiday because it is a nice area and good location. good if you want somewhere to crash only. do not stay if your expecting a lot.

Room Tip: Get room number 22 as has an AMAZING balcony.
