We stayed at the Luna forte d Oura for a week from 20th December, taking in Christmas. We had a large apartment for 6 people, although there were only two of us. It was very spacious with a very large terrace as we were on the top floor. The views were lovely overlooking the gardens and sea. We got sun all day, I suppose we were very lucky with the weather, it was beautiful all week. These apartments are advertised as 4*, I would say they are a good 3*. Although we had plenty of room, the bathroom and kitchen area could do with an update, they were a bit shabby, as were the sofas in the lounge. The TV could certainly do with an update the screen was so tiny. the towels got changed every day but very thin and frayed.
However, the staff were very friendly and helpful, we had problems with the air-conditioning, toilet seat cracked and un- hygenic also the handle on the door to terrace was broken, but these were fixed within a couple of hours reporting the problems. The apartments are in a nice area, walking distance to shops beach etc. We hired a car and must say the whole coastline of the Algarve is fantastic. Personally, we wouldn't stay at the Luna Forte again, but is would be good for families. The restaurant was good value and nicely laid out.We had a Christmas carvery there which was excellent.

We made a good choice with forte da oura it is excellent . We are a family of 4 and it really was perfect although i think it would suit any combination of people..
The location is only 2 minutes away from main social area called the strip and 5 minutes in a taxi from the old town . There is plenty to do with beaches closeby and lots of restaurants .
We travelled with thomas cook the flight was fine and on time. We booked a private transfer as the coach with tour operators always take ages and actually the private transfer was cheaper than thomas cooke. We used one called yellowfishtransfers com .would use them again car was clean an actually had a baby an booster seat for us even tho i forgot to reserve them ,as a mum i was really impressed by this.
The restaurant in the hotel was run by a british guy ,havin kids we eat in the hotel a bit and the food was very good ,it even attracted clients from outside as it had a reputation which is a good sign.
I would actually consider visiting again ,the flight time of 2 1/2 hours is perfect with children.

We stayed in a studio room on self catering basis.
The actual studio was large and pleasant, plenty of room.
Everywhere is clean and the poolside is cleaned everyday.
Families are made welcome. Would go back again.

We booked this accomadation with Jet2 holidays. As a self catering apartment I have never stayed in one as good as this. In a great spot close enough to walk to most areas yet far enough away so that noise would not bother you.

The accomadation was to a very high standard with daily maid service and towel changes and two changes of bedding through the one week we stayed here.

This was our (two couples) first visit to Portugal, but if this Hotel and the local area is anything to go by we will be back as soon as is possible.

All in all a great holiday with a good tour operator, it just shows that if you give the smaller tour operators a chance you could be surprised.
