“Not recommended at all”

Just got back from a short break in this hotel. I've never left a review before but feel as if I ought to let anyone else who maybe thinking of going here know some HONEST comments.

We booked for a few days break 2nd week in February knowing it may quieter out of season. We did however expect some facilites to be open. The bungalow with garden view didn't exist. We were given a room that was so run down and cold, the view was a flat rooftop and the back of the building opposite which looked like the chalets at Pontins in the 1960's. We paid for an upgrade to the main building which was a really nice room. The 'on site' supermarket does not open at all and after being told by the receptionist that the nearest supermarket was 5 minutes walk away I set off to find it. 45 minutes later I eventually got there! The site is NOT suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking up hills. An example of how steep........you walk into the reception from outside which is located on the 6th floor!! the beach access is on the 1st floor and you still have to walk up an incline from the beach to get there. The dining room is sectioned off to about 15 tables in the winter months and food is bland and limited to soup, salad, chicken, fish or chilli but not all onnthe same day. I didnt bother with breakfast as I was told by another guest that they only offered toast and greasy bacon. The staff 'except one' were quite unhelpful and abrupt when asked about directions or information. There is no lounge area to sit comfortable in and have a drink at night. I know that it is out of season and maintenance on the hotel is going on but if you want a holiday with decent food and comfort, I personally would not recommend you stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building and not in the bungalow blocks.

My wife and I booked this week long holiday just 2 weeks before departure through holiday gems many thanks to BETTY who arranged our holiday everything flights and transfers could not have been better. The hotel has a perfect beach front location and the 20 min stroll along it to the old town is heaven. We were all inclusive the food was nt always what you would choose in a restaurant but hey for what we paid you could always get something nice.We were in block m2 in a 1 bedroom with a lovely sea view.Maids were great and cleaned apartment and changed towels every day well done. Only downside was it was quite a trek from reception all up hill ,would not be suitable to anyone with walking difficultys.Girls who did pool bar Cimi and I forget other girls name were great always pleasant and very helpful ,both well worth a tip.Cimi was also covering bar in the evenings for our first 4 days as regular barman was on holidays, wish he had stayed away longer as when he came back he rubbed everybody up the wrong way when he served our first drink he come out with remember to tip the barman and pointed to a tip tin which had appeared on the bar .He had no personality and was never at the bar and if he was was always with mobile texting TIP no chance mate.Hotel bar could do with a better form of heating as it got quite cold in the January evenings.Lady who looked after restaurant could do with a personality transplant also and again when she had 2 days off she was replaced by Cimi great personality always pleasant management take note. All in all a very enjoyable holiday must mention Fat Cats bar 10 min walk away good food friendly people and bar Azul watched Liverpool beat united here nice clean bar and really friendly owners.

Room Tip: try and get room in main hotel

“not very good out of season”

this hotel could be wonderful if just a few changes would be made. the hotel is situated bang in the middle of the old town and new town so it is only a ten minute walk either way and the beach is lovely.
dont think they really cater for winter holidays as they close most of the resturant and just leave a small area for all the dinning so that means not alot of room for food.
FOOD- it was awful at the start of the holiday it was terrible but they had so many complaints it got a bit better by the end of the week,
ENTERTAINMENT-there was a man playing a keyboard for a couple hours a night but not every night.
ROOMS- we had a room in the main building which was very nice always had clean towels and bedding every day.plenty of hot water for shower OR bath

This hotel is in need of a facelift and it could be wonderful if they spent a little money on it, but i really dont think it should be open in the winter, in the summer i would imagine it to be completly different lots of different food as they have the room for it, ( i had a peep into the main resturant which was closed off, it has a buffet style resturant ) and also has a large area outside with a small stage for entertainment
in the winter it would struggle at a 3 * but it would be in summer, and for what we paid it was a cheap week away in the sun.
i would say go for it if you dont mind very basic and not stopping in at the hotel, there is so much to see in the old and new town you shouldnt need to be there very much !

Room Tip: the rooms in the main building are just studio rooms the rooms outside the main building are apartme...

We went hear as a couple , met some great people of various ages,
we stayed in apartment 702 B , kitchenette, livingwith pull out bed /dinning room, bathroom with over bath shower, bedroom with twin / double bed,balcony/sun terrace easy seat 4 ppl with room, the maids came in everyday to clean room, make beds and fresh towels
Food - some people complained about it not being hot and used a microwave to heat up! we didn't,
Breakfast - continental dont expect sausages and bacon everyday, and the sausages are "hotdog" but plenty of it,
Pool side bar - sandwiches salad crisps cake most days you could order other food ie fries
this was available from 11 - 5 or you could eat lunch in the restaurant
Staff wise ...... Cammy who worked very hard in restaurant bar and pool bar is excellent very helpful nothing too much for her, my husband even walked in looking for mayo/mustard at poolbar couldnt see any didnt ask but a couple of minutes later Cammy was by our lounger with a selection she was always pleasent
Barman not sure of his name didnt want to ask as as soon as you go in he was shaking the Tips tin saying something like " you are new you give tip then i give you drink" !!! When he was not working at the bar the atmospher was so much better
The rest of staff were very nice even at times the lady in the restaurant at lunch and dinner
Check out the tour shop on the strip (newtown) some good deals
Old Town worth the walk along the beach,
Would go back out of season again been advised to busy in summer
Beach very nice cleaned every day
Thanks to Cammy for a lovely time if you go here dont expect more than you pay for and do try the food even if you dont like the look of it you may be suprised we were

Room Tip: some aparments had smaller balcony and no view we were in block 700 B but alternate ones different s...

“Great value for not a lot of money”

Came here with my wife from january 22 to 29th 2012 on a deal from Lowcosttravel.com . Flight , airport parking, transfer and hotel only cost £250 for us both so I didn't expect much of the accomodation and was prepared to move or upgrade. We were very pleasantly surprised, we were given a second floor room in B block. It was faded splendour and due a makeover but read on. It had a small kitchen area separated from the main room with two rings and a good range of decent quality pots and pans and enough crockery etc. The bedroom had twinbeds, two small tables and 3 chairs there was a small balcony overlooking the sea and it also had a pair of chairs and a table. The ensuite bathroom had a wc , bidet sink and bath with shower. The room had aircon/ heating (no charge) and a tv and phone. The maids came daily to make beds and change all the towels!!!!! The sheets were also changed twice in that week. most guest were all inclusive, we ate out all the time except for breakfast. There are loads of local restaurants (try Pizzaria Expresso about 500 metres away) and lots of supermarkets - the best seemed to be Pingu Doce at the big roundabout. Car hire is easy but motorway tolls are automatic based on the registration and you have to pay at the psot office within 5 days. That was a pain, they are two days behind and dont open saturdays for this so we had to leave owing for one day - I'm waiting for the fine to follow.
The hotel staff are very helpful. On the downside its on a slope and not very disabled friendly because of that and I'd think at the height of the season it would be very noisy. The beach is two minutes away and the strip is a 10 minute walk.

Room Tip: Ask at reception I am sure some were better and newer than others
