“Great value for money”

We went here on a self catering basis and the apartment was a lovely size and more than adequate for just the two of us. The balcony was small but overlooked the pool from 5 floors up - which was quite nice. I could not say that this was 4 star by any stretch of the imagination but it was pleasant and adequate.
It was a nice stroll to the old town of an evening with plenty of restaurants to chose from.
The hotel is at the bottom of a steep hill and wouldn't be suitable for people with any mobility problems.
Just about 100 yards up the hill was the shopping centre which had a well stocked supermarket.
The hotel had the usual issues with sunbeds - there were signs up saying towels would be removed if sunbeds were reserved before a certain time in the morning but this was never enforced.
We got a really good deal on this hotel by booking flights, accomodation and transfer separately and I consider it was great value for money.

Its definately not a 4 Star hotel, it may of been 10 years ago when the First Choice certificates still hanging on the wall in reception gave then a gold award.......food leaves alot to be desired, fortunately for my son there was a snack list available twice a day.

Room was fine, towels were changed regularly. Staff were friendly enough.

I am trying to forget the amount of money I paid for this holiday.

“4 Star, I think not!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

We booked on the Wednesday and travelled the Saturday, the price was very cheap and with this hotel you get what you pay for! The thing that was really frustrating was that if the rating was more realistic you would not be too disappointed, but they do not manage your expectations very well.
We arrive late on the Saturday night and the receptionist was helpful, although there was no food available.
We got to our room, which was very basic but clean and decided to get last orders at the bar, shoved out baggage in the room and locked the door. The handle came off in my partners hand, at which point we just looked at each other and thought ok, what have we let ourselves in for.
When we arrived at the reception with the handle in, she explained that the maintenance would not be here until Monday and gave us a pair of scissors to try and back into the room.
Luckly my partner is very resourceful and after 15 or so minutes managed to get in, we could lock the door from the inside, so one of us popped to the bar and ordered copious amounts of alcohol......The bedding and towels were not changed for the whole time we were there, and many people were complaining about one thing or another.
They changed our room the following day and we experienced a Portuguese breakfast which to be fair wasn't too bad, althought the bacon was more like parma ham....My other half ended up eating chips and burgers all week as the food was either fish or chicken...
We met some really lovely people, some of the staff were really helpful and the weather was amazing, thank god because if we had gone here and this had not been the case I think we would have end up killing each other (tongue in cheek).
The location was fantastic and it was a short walk to the old town, beach or the strip.
I would definitely go to Portugal again and even the same resort however, it would be to a different hotel.
All this being said we really had a lovely time on our holiday even if the hotel reminded us of Fawlty Towers... :)
PS. The indoor pool and facilities were not open and I am not sure they ever have been looking through the windows at the construction site, think that they should re-rate and removed this information off their website!

“holiday from hell”

Our room was disgraceful, had to move to other room, but then this was over the bar, very noisy night, no sleep. Ants are crawling everywhere, staff not bothered! Food is truck stop cafe, don't bother. Electrics are dangerous, with wires hanging out on lifts and bathroom heaters. Mould all over bathroom walls and around sinks. This hotel is definately not 4 star, save your money, camping would be a luxury compared to this hotel. The area was ok, and beach superb, so my advice would be go elsewhere.
On our first day there was 3 other couples complaining regarding the state of the rooms. One left the hotel and moved to other accomodation.

Room Tip: Don't bother go elsewhere
