We stayed at the hotel for 1 week at the end of July. The hotel is suppossed to be 4 star but it definately does not have four star qualities. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped. However, the beds are uncomfortable with small pillows. The bathroom lighting is really dark and could do with being updated and cleaned better. However, the rooms have air conditioning which is vital and we had a lovely sea view. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, we however had to wait 3 hours to get into our room because they were being cleaned. We then waited around the pool area/bar without sunbeds because they were all taken.
The only downfall of the area is that a taxi is required in the evening/day as it is too far to walk to the Old Town where the best restaurants are by the beach. The wait for a taxi one night at around 11pm was an hour, the taxi driver said it was not unusual to wait 3 hours for a taxi in the high season, so beware of this if you have children like us. Overall, i would recommend this hotel/location as we have stayed in worse.

  • Liked — air conditioning
  • Disliked — rooms need updating
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Use the supermarket below the hotel as it is really good for fresh bread

I stayed at this hotel with my wife and two teenage daughters and have to say that it one of the best holidays we have had. I can't think of anything really bad to say about the resort or the hotel it was a really good place to visit. I'll try to break it down a bit to help everyone out...
The Hotel...The rooms in the hotels are huge, like everyone else has said. My wife and I had our own room, as did my daughters, but there would have been plenty of space for a family of four in one room, if you don't mind using a pullout sofa. There is a seperate bedroom and bathroom and an open plan kitchen area with a hob and fridge but no oven. The pool, I suppose is a bit small and there is the usual fight for sunbeds, but we found it better to go out to the beautiful beaches and then return to a virtually empty pool in the early evening. We didn't try the restaurant or bar in the hotel, just used it for somewhere to sleep really.
The Beaches...Directly across from the hotel is a road that leads down to some steep steps and to a fabulous beach with beautiful golden sand and one or two little coves to hide in if you are early enough. If you prefer, you can take the courtesy bus (free of charge) from the hotel to the Old Town of Albufeira and the much larger fisherman's beach. This has a fabulous jetty that sticks well out into the sea that is full of teenage kids jumping and diving in. Great fun.
The Strip...This is the lively area of Albufeira, where all the bars and discos are. Very lively, very busy but is well away from the hotel and the old town so you wouldn't even know it was there unless you head for it. The bars and discos are interspaced with lots of restaurants and it is popular with families of all ages. It doesn't really get lively till after midnight and even then it's not full of lager swilling british yobs. Lots of local kids aswell having a great time. One thing I think the local authorities should consider is closing down the road on a night time. There are just too many people trying to squeeze by on the narrow paths.
The Old Town...Undergoing a bit of a makeover at the moment, lots of work on roads and buildings. This will look fabulous eventually I am sure, they sure are pumping an awful lot of money into the area. However, it is still a really great place to visit, lots of bars and restaurants and a lovely square.

All in all one of our best holidays to date. I have been known to slate venues in the past when they deserve it, but not this one.

We arrived back last Thursay, and i have seen the pictures of our holiday and it makes me feel gutted to be home!
I must admit the location was not the best- especially when you are walking in flip flops for the first time this year! The first week we found it was easy to get a taxi, but because of the peak season coming, the second week we were not so lucky.
All the staff were friendly, especially the South African girl behind the reception, and the waiter in the resturante next door.
The beer in Portugal is not too bad, if you choose to drink imported drinks you do spend quite a bit more.
The pool was nice and cool, but i found there was not much to do for families hanging round there.
The rooms were amazing, i have never seen such big rooms.

The staff were very helpful, the rooms spacious and clean ( i think the sofa beds were more comfortable than the other beds), Although it was a bit of a trek up the pool, it was nice and clean although could do with a few more umberellas.

The only negative i could say is not about the accommodation, it is about the location. You have a good walk to the bars and restaurants. There is a courtesy shuttle bus but the times are limited. You can get a taxi to the main areas and it is about £4 (5 eros's) including tip. (The local bus is about 1.80 euro's each and you will need more than one to get to the old town) But you have to order the taxi or pick one up at a taxi rank. They can not be flagged down.

If you get to the strip you can get the tourist train which takes you to the old town and modelo shopping centre. You can use it as many times as you like for 3 euro's a day. It is worth a trip

If you want to go on trips, go to the mondelo shopping centre and there is an agent in there who will get you good prices.

I would definately recommend this accommodation

this is a review of the best holiday i've had ever!!!! i'm just home from a week in BP.the atmosphere was fantastic and the hotel was great.
The entertainment was packed every day.between the hotel bar itself and the strip!!
For families i would recomend Cafe del mar on the strip as it was great fun for all ages.
For young people like myself WIld N CO and paradise were fantastic, great music great craic and Class cocktails!!!
As for the comment that was made in the previous review, the reps in the hotel were fantastic!!! especially jennie martin, i injured myself on the second day of my holiday and had to go to hospital and she was exceptional to me.she helped me to no end and never mind that the girl was always around whenever we needed help with regards anything!
this is a holiday i wont forget and first choice made it 100% more entertaining
