“An excellent experience, great price, helpful and friendly staff - no problems here at all...”

The Tropical Sol self catering apartment was excellent value and my wife and I were treated politely and efficiently by the friendly staff. The rooms were of a more than adequate size, and the TV had BBC1, BBC2, ITV1 and Eurosport, which was handy after being out most of the day.The hotel is very well situated for several shops, bars and eating places. 30 seconds from the hotel is Fat Cats, a UK-type pub which was good and was reasonably priced, and all the British football on Sky. However, it has to be pointed out that several bars and restaurants littered throughout "The Strip" Albufeira are not bereft of the Blackpool-esque cheap and nastiness - although not in price. But nonetheless places we tended to avoid like the plague. We rented a car at Faro Airport, and were shocked at fuel prices in Portugal - more expensive than in the UK. All in all, I would recommend The Tropical Sol to anyone, as we experienced a very enjoyable short stay there...Eric & Susan, Gourock, Scotland. 04 - 07 Feb 2012.

My friend and I went for winter break on 29th january. We had 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms (1 with shower). Kitchen had 2 rings, microwave, kettle, plenty cutlery, crockery, pots and pans. Lovely rooms.............lamps, pictures, tiles, sofabed and chairs, dining furniture etc. The balcony had table and chairs and small drying thing. Fully individual air con /heaters. All rooms face swimming pool. This room (114 ) had car parking right outside front door. Go out to the right and you land on the strip,go left and there,s pubs, bakers , spar shop within 100 yards. It's in a great position , even for anyone with walking difficulties. I'll be back.

after a 9 1/2 hour flight delay because of the snow we arrived at tropical sol looks impressive from the front and reception- guy at the desk directed us to our room - which was on the same level as the reception over looking the pool - the 1 bad aparetment was massive but very very dated id say rooms were more 2 or 3 star - 2 single beds pushed together -not very romantic for a young (ish) married couple and the white bed covers were a dirty looking off white .and the pillows were rock hard .beds nad towels done every day (we were only there for a few days) ..id reccomend u dont book bed and breakfast as we did dont get me wrong it was nice but you can go to a local resturant and get a breakfast made to order for less than 3euros and as we had to leave early on the last day we missed breakfast as it didnt start till 8.30 which i thought was quite late for early risers - there is a lovely bakery just round the corner as is fat cats which is a english bar -went to a family fun day there yesterday afternoon - not normally into stuff like that but it was very enjoyable -well worth a visit to the old town some nice resturants there - beware if you go this time of the year as we did (feb) most places are deserted went into the old town one evening and it as deserted as was the strip

“Tropical Sol in Early Feb 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Just back from 9 days in Tropical Sol. What can I say? Excellent accommodation/facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Initially we had a few technical problems but they were sorted in minutes by the staff. Housekeeping staff came in every day and made beds, cleaned bathroom & changed linen. We went early Feb and I'm sure we put on weight due partially to the fab bakery around the corner. Weather in early feb was between 16 and 22 degrees C. The pool and the sea were freezing cold so swimming was out of the question at this time. It was winter remember with -5 degrees C back in Ireland :-). We were very lucky to get the accommodation for 20 euros per day because we booked early. We booked a Studio appartment but they had upgraded us to a one bedroom appartment when we arrived. It was huge. The only minor downside was there was only WIFI in the reception for 5 euros per day and you only have 3 english tv channels. It did us no harm to have a break from technology for the 9 days.We can't wait to go back!!!!

Room Tip: Book early.

“Tropical Sol - Expectations Exceeded”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My wife (Colette) and I stayed at the Tropical Sol when England was under snow, ice and frost. I cannot apologise because the service and the facilities at Tropical Sol distracted us from reviewing the daily weather forecast.

The location meant that it was very easy to find - Leave Faro Airport, carry on along the main (N125) road* and turn left - easy!
We were upgraded from a Studio to 1 Bedroom Apartment - This was without asking so thanks to the Management.
The apartment was fully equipted for our purposes and the equipment worked every time.
The building has undergone a facelift and general upgrade and it has been tastefully completed.
The Apartment is quite close to the "Strip" - 2 min walk - but is not affected by it.
Fortunately, we never encountered any flies (as a previous Reviewer mentioned) because of the time of year we went and we certanly did not encounter any other inconvenience or nuisance.
Well done Tropical Sol! We will not be returning to our 'usual' Apartment which we have visited for our past few holiday breaks unless TS are full.

Regards and Enjoy,

Frank & Colette
