“Does what it says on the tin”

Just come back from a week at Novochoro. There are 2 buildings containing apartments, one in considerable more up to date condition than the other. We stayed in the less up to date building and although the kitchen was fairly dated it was very clean and cleaned every other day with fresh towels. On arrival the staff were very friendly and told you where everything was with a map to use and can book trips for you if you choose to. They run a minibus shuttle to the town 3 times a day for 1 euro and the main strip is about a 10-15 minute walk depending on how old you are. I went with my husband and we are both in our 30's and found the walking and supermarket walk not too much trouble. There is a small supermarket about 5-10 minutes walk and a really big one about 20-25 minutes away. I advise you ask where the supermarkets are though as we struggled to find them our fist day, they are easily missed unless on the strip and then really expensive!

Sunbeds and pool along with the rest of the grounds are well kept and tidy and not too busy during the day. There were only 2 families with children there when we were there. My only negative on the place is the sound proofing in the older of the apartment blocks, you can hear pretty much everything particularly walking around, the chairs and any other furniture being moved and talking when in the Bathroom as I think the vents join together! It's also noisy in the halls with people chattng and coming back in late and when we were there the villa's across the road had about 5 dogs between them who continuously barked throughout the night. My advice would be to definitely stay there but take some earplugs!

“Novochoro Apartments”

Myself and my partner stayed at these apartments at the beginning of September. We were located in the "old block" of apartments, not the nice new plush side advertised on web sites. Although we did have a large apartment, the furniture had seen better days, was quite old and musty smelling. The kitchen was poorly equipped, a whistling kettle from the 1930's and a hob that took 30 mins to reach maximum heat! Cutlery and crockery that wouldnt be out of place at a children's tea party (incredibly small).
Due to the poor design of the old apartment block, we could hear anything and everything of what went on, especially late at night when people returned from their nights out!!
The staff were friendly and helpful. Pool was nice with little shadows cast as the day wore on.
Only a 10-15 min walk to the "Strip",with a huge selection of bars & restaruants. Long walk to the beach/Old Town but apartments run a shuttle bus costing only 1 Euro each.
The Algarve is beautiful, so we recommend getting out and about. We would return to the Algarve but would not stay at Novochoro.

“Really Nice Complex, basic but very clean, would go back.”

Myself and 3 friends stayed here in August for 1 week, We are girls in our 30s! It was a relaxing holiday and we didnt want anything too busy. The complex and grounds are really nice and well kept. The pool is very quiet during the day when we stayed not many kids around. The rooms are really basic but they are clean and the staff were very helpful and very approachable. The apartments are outside the main strip about 10mins in a taxi away -it is defo not a 10 minute walk more like 25 min walk but in saying that the apartments have a shuttle bus throughout the day to take you into the old and new town for 1 euro per person. Think 10.30, 3pm, 4.30 and 7pm. We took advantage of this sevice. The staff will order you a taxi they sometimes take about 30mins to arrive thou as it is very busy in evenings. The taxi would cost about 6-8 euros into town. The old town is great and worth a visit, we enjoyed the live music until 11.30pm. Plenty of steakhouses and cocktail bars available and loads of shops to browse around. Great time here. Would not recommend to families with small children who want to be near the beach and town. Defo small groups who dont mind being
a little outside the action but nothing that can be sorted with a short taxi ride. You get what you pay for this is a small basic 2 star complex with a family run feel, We enjoyed our stay it was pleasant.

“Was expecting more with the price we paid!!!!!”

Just back from the novochoro apartments we paid almost 500 euro each for 10 days not worth the money what so ever!!!!!! got there and was gutted with the apartment, we were placed in the old block of aprtments we did get a huge balcony which we did ask for but this is all I was happy about. Cons of these apartments and resort- no air conditioning in 36 degree heat, beds so hard and had 2 push 2 singles togther, toilet leaking, I would describe shower as a watering can, staff very unhelpful to say the least very poor English. The Cons of this holiday mainly reflect the apartments as seen above. Portugal is a beautiful city and we spent most of our time in the old town would not stay in these OLD apartments will look for better value somewhere else at an acceptable standard which we did not get. These apartments are only getting good reviews because of the new block of apartments they did seem a bit more acceptable do not stay in old block!!!!!!!!!!!!
