Have been here twice now and will probably come back again and again.
Extremely quiet location. Outstanding Supermarket: better than anything anywhere.
Brilliant beach. Courtesy bus into Albufera for some hussle and bussle if you want it.
Also easy to get a transfer bus into Vilamora for the day.
Spent most of our days walking on the beach and walking to the lagoon at Salgados to watch the bird life come and go.
Best restaurant is the Restaurant Piten da Gale (289592011). Out of the entrance of the Hotel and turn right. Up to the roundabout and turn left. About 400 meters down the road on the right, just past the big 'eat as much as you can' fish restaurant. Small, intimate, stunning food, delightful service. Not budget prices, but some of the best food in the area.

We came to this hotel in 2008 and loved it! It may not be to everyone's liking as it is a bit isolated from shopping and restaurants but we had a lovely 1 bedroom suite that faced on to the ocean and were able to see the sun rise and set over the ocean & watch the fishing boat lights at night. It is a 3 minute walk to the beach - and a lovely pristine 7km beach to the next village. The staff were always friendly and helpful and the room was cleaned daily. Our second visit was as good if not better than the first. On our most recent trip we participated in their 6 day a week Hydro-fun (acqua-fit) in the indoor pool - very clean and not over chlorinated - the instructor Innes was an absolute gem! Full of humour & fun. In spite of it being a bit isolated the hotel offers a free shuttle bus int and back from Albufeira 3 times daily. We hope to return again next year!

We arrived late evening and didn't realise that we had been given the dud room of the hotel until the next morning. Our room was a. above the restaurant canopy on level 1 , and b. in the corner of an L shaped hotel with a flat roof on the right where all the airconditioning units are, so noisy and unsightly - the balcony un-usable basically. Hotel has not had a refurb since it was built - naff cheapo pine furniture and rubberised leatherette sofas - nice! We asked to move and were offered the only other room in the hotel, which was 2 doors down, but at least we could use our balcony. The pool area was very nice (its towels at dawn here though) and its a 5 min walk to Gale beach, which is long and sandy. There is an indoor pool & gym at the hotel but you have to pay for that - what? pay more? I dont think so! Its an old style hotel run with old style values, if accordian-led merry jig bands in the evening with accompanying linked arm dancing are your thing then this place is for you. Considering we paid £180 per night for this, we were not impressed, nearly a grand for a week - yes we feel super robbed - hugely annoying!

We stayed in the first week of the July holidays and found that we were the only 2 English speaking guests in the whole hotel. Staying all inclusive for 1 week expecting a good service and good hotel. The staff on reception were ok but I have been welcomed in b&b's better and this was supposed to be 4 star. All the other guests seemed to be either German or Portugese which we didn't have a problem with except that they were all very clicky and looked at us like we had 2 heads. It is extremely quiet and to be honest the entertainment is pretty crap. We are both in our 40's and even we were bored. The food was ok but never hot always lukewarm and a bit tasteless. There was about 5 choices of meat 1 vegetarian and some veg with plenty of dessert choices and cheeses. Our room faced staight onto the entrance of the hotel and was plagued by bird droppings from the swallows nests which were in abundance above us. This was the only problem we had with the cleanliness but it was disgusting. There are 3 trips into Albuferia by the courtesy bus daily, don't forget to ask for the passes at reception before you go, but the latest one back is 5.30pm so if you are planning to go into town in the evening keep 10 euro for your return, some of the taxi drivers are madmen so hold onto your seat. The beach is beautiful and the supermarket which is located about 5 mins walk away is great but they don't sell medicines so if you need a headache tablet bring them with you. BE CAREFUL OF PEOPLE IN ALBUFERIA FILLING OUT FORMS ABOUT YOUR HOLIDAY AND TELLING YOU YOU HAVE WON MONEY, A HOLIDAY, A TV OR A BOTTLE OF WINE, ITS TIMESHARE AND THEY TAKE YOU AWAY FOR HOURS. Luckily enough i got fed up and we just walked away after about 30 minutes. Definately wouldn't recommend this to a friend and won't be back.
