“Very good holiday and apartments.”

My partner and I stayed for a week in Cerro Mar in September 2011. We had an absolutely brilliant time. One negative was that I found it to be very misleading, the Cerro Mar has the Atlantico and the Gardens, if you stay in the Atlantico you may not use the pool in the main hotel, but you can use the facilities that you pay for in the main hotel. We used the beautiful pool for 3 day's before a member of staff told us off and said that we were not entitled to use it... We have booked these apartments for September 2012 because despite this we did have a great holiday, we feel though that maybe it would be better to be clearer on what's what, when it comes to accomodation. The rooms were cleaned daily, the staff were not unfriendly, but didn't really smile alot but made no difference to us as we only really went to the pool and apartment. There are some really nice places to eat, if you go off the main square a little it gets cheaper and its just as nice. Stay away from Jo Jo's... its really bad and the lady running it is mental. They offer two meals for a low price, it looks nice, but the food was really awful. That was the only bad meal we had for the whole holiday.

Room Tip: Ask when you book for a quiet spot with a sea view and high up (if you are not disabled), we did and...

“Amazing Holiday !”

This review is long overdue as our holiday was last september! The hotel is fantastic and the apartments are very spacious ! (more than enough room for me and my boyfriend) we didnt see much of the staff so comments can not be made but the house keepers were brilliant, cleaning the room to a high standard every day ! after reading the reviews about the dreaded steps i was a little anxoius but theres really nothing to worry about as long as your able, i still managed them after many cocktails! the apartments are in a great location 5 minutes from the old town which is an amazing evening and day out ! buudys and fernandos are great restaurants and central is the bar to be !!! 100% for this holiday nothing bad to say (and im fussy)

“Small but perfectly formed.”

We stayed here for a week with our two children aged 9 and 2. Couldn't get the kids out of the pool! We chose to stay here outside of school holidays, therefore it wasn't very busy and we generally had the pool to ourselves. Apartment was very spacious with full fitted kitchen, and were spotlessly clean. Pool was also spotless and cleaned at 8am every morning. Location was fine for us as we are a young family and fairly fit. Would imagine it may be difficult for those with mobility issues as you have a very steep hill to negotiate after climbing all the steps up from the Main Square. There are lots of taxis available though if you don't feel like the walk back up (which we took a couple of the nights!). 10-15 minute walk to beach, 5 minute walk to Main Square. Small but VERY expensive convenience shop located directly underneath apartments. There is a Lidl up the hill, about a 20 minute walk, which is probably cheaper. Staff were lovely, and often gave us discounts on our drinks at night. In and around the Main Square there are literally hundreds of bars and restaurants, most of which are family orientated. There are a few noisier bars too, but are in no way intimidating for young families. On our last night we went to Ricardo's Italian restaurant, which was fantastic! Get there at dusk and grab a table up on the roof terrace for amazing views of the sun setting over the town. The food, wine and service was fab! We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday to Cerro Mar Atlantico, and will definitely be back :)

“AWFUL APARTMENTS”

Never thought I would write a review about my holiday, but need to warn people about some of the apartments at the Cerro Mar Colina Hotel. I Booked a sea view & balcony apartment as promised in the Brochure with Thomsons holiday. On arrival found my apartment to be at back of hotel with a brick wall at each window and a security shutter that did not lock. Staff were no help; Thomsons rep would not move us even though he agreed the apartment was awful. Have complained officially through all channels, even through ABTA. Received 2 letters thanking me for pointing out the sub standard apartment and they would make sure the brochure was changed accordingly (still not happened). Thomsons have even admitted that the brochure descriptions and photos are not indicative of what you actually get. Offered £50 holiday voucher, even though we could not eat inside the apartment due to the standard, and ended up spending a fortune at restaurants for breakfast, lunch & dinners.

“steep hill”

Apt were great, clean, well equiped, good size balconies. plenty of sunbeds although even the shallow end of pool was pretty deep. 5mins to get to old town square(which was buzzing)
140 steps and a pretty steep hill on the way up, aft 3 nights we got a taxi 4-5 euro, well worth it as it was still very warm. Views from hotel were brill. But there was not any small local bars around hotel or apt, so you had to go down the hill if you wanted to go anywhere.
