Me and my Husband came to the Belmonte to be greeted by the most miserable receptionist (Anna) we have ever come across and the first thing we were told was that they had over booked and we would have to swap apartments half way through our 7 day holiday. This was all said without apology that we would have to re-pack and move in such a short holiday.
The room we were then told wasn't ready, so we would have to wait 5 hours in 30 degree heat.
The next day we woke to a flooded bathroom floor which had been caused by the toilet leaking. We reported this to Anna, who to our surprise already knew about it and said some one would fix it the next day. The next day after waiting for someone to fix the loo, nobody turned up. Also the same day we tried to have a shower and no water came out of it because it was broken so i had a bath instead and to my horror the Bidet filled up with sewage and my bath water whilst in it turned brown. It then took 24 hours for the water to empty. Disgusting !!!
The Fridge door would not close without forcing it shut. Half of the electrical sockets didn't work and light bulbs were missing.
I have never had any trouble sleeping on holiday but the bed at the Belmonte were so hard they gave me backache and had to put 5 blankets on them to soften them.
The pool area though nice was only cleaned once during our stay and started to look dirty during the week.
One morning i woke early and went onto the balcony on the ground floor(still dark) their was a man stood by the pool and when he saw me he quickly ran out of the complex. This shuck me up for at least the next 3 days. The Belmonte is situated very close to a run down residential area, so i thought it was probably a local resident.
Halfway through our holiday we moved apartments. The apartment we moved to was much better. Although there was a large crack in the bathroom sink that leaked when used. I came to the assumption that Anna knew about this also because there was a mop and bucket left for us to clean up any mess.
The apartments are spacious but very very basic and tired looking. The cleaner seemed to be the most polite member of staff at the belmonte and was also the busiest.
DO NOT walk outside the Belmonte at night it is very intimidating and scary.
There were also apartment doors you could clearly see had been broken in to.
Finally we weren't even asked by Anna if we had had a nice holiday. Anna is only happy when you are spending money at the bar, other than that she is not interested.
