“Glorious beach break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We booked this hotel as part of a last minute deal for 3 nights in October and had a wonderful time. The hotel exceeded our expectations, it was peaceful and clean with a great pool area and short walk through the nature reserve to a truly stunning strip of beach. The hotel isn't completely finished yet, which didn't affect our stay in any way, but we did notice there were a few areas where they were still building and there only seemed to be 1 restaurant offering evening dinner options, which we didn't go to but the buffet style breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Albufeira was a short taxi ride away (approx 10-15 euros) where there were lots of restaurants and bars. We were upgraded to a sea view room, which also overlooked the pools and lovely gardens. The room was really clean and nicely decorated, it was a little bit smaller than I would have expected but fine for a short stay and we did only book a standard room - they have suites if you're looking for something more spacious. Hotel guests also have complimentary access to the health club across the road with tennis, a spa, gym and exercise classes (charges apply to some activities). In summary, this is a great hotel if you don't mind being a bit further out and I'm sure once it's finished there will be very little need to leave the resort.

Room Tip: Definitely worth opting for a sea view!

“Tropical setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the end of September and had the loveliest time. In fact, we didn't want to leave.

The hotel is very pretty with an almost paradise like setting. Our room was garden facing but we could still see the sea from the balcony. The garden is lovely and green with lots of trees making the whole feel of the hotel very tropical as well as private.

The circular pools are fantastic. There are 9 in total in clusters of 3. In the evenings they are lit up in different colours which was nice to see. Very different to the average and boring rectangular blue pools.

Breakfast - There is a huge variety from fruits, pastries, cereals to hot breakfasts. Champagne is also included which I thought was very generous for the price we paid.

Service - Everyone was very friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble. There was no pressure to give any tips although we did as the service deserved it.

The beach is a stones through away and is beautiful. It’s a great stretch of the Algarve. About 15 minutes’ walk along the beach in either direction brings you to a few sea-facing restaurants. They are gorgeous and great value for money. They are not connected to the hotel but I would recommend the restaurant called Ol Salgados which specialise in fresh sea food. We heard about a number of nice restaurants in the town of Gale so there is a lot to choose from.

The hotel is currently being extended (was not disrupting to our stay at all) and I understand that there will be a number of restaurants opening in the next few months. We are very much looking forward to going back in the future once complete.

“Just excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

I cant say anything but the best of this hotel. Wonderful palm trees all arround, great dunas walk to the beach, fantastic outdoor swimmingpools, and much much more.

“Great hotel for family holidays”

We are a couple with two year old twins and we had an amazing time at the hotel. We booked a junior suite with sea view and we had the most amazing view of the fantastic garden with the pools and the sea. The room was quite spacious and it was cleaned daily. Breakfast was really good, with plenty of excellent food on offer. The best thing about the hotel is its surrounding as it is set among a big garden full of palm trees; the swimming pools are very clean and lovely, especially if you have young children (they are only 40cm deep and the grounds around them are extremely safe). The beach is just five minutes away and it is a very enjoyable walk.
There is a supermarket at the other side of the resort, just ten minutes away with plenty of choice for food.
There isn't much around the hotel so it is not the best choice if you're looking for night live, but it is fantastic for a relaxing holiday.
We would absolutely love to go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea view.

“Brand new clean hotel. excellent pools, bad dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We had a hotel room which was very modern and clean, however it was a bit on the small side. We had room for everything, there was a wardrobe and room to keep 2 cases, and we didn't mind the size as we only slept there. I would not let the size put you off. The bathroom was gorgeous with a rain effect shower. Again everything was spotless, and maids came in every day. We did not pay for a sea view so were in a room beside the lift in the main reception building, which could be a little noisy as you could hear people go for breakfast and we could hear noise from the roof top bar in the building opposite which went on until 2am. To be fair, this noise was not excessive and was not worth complaining about, and it never kept us awake. It just might be worth requesting a room in one of the other buildings.
The breakfast buffet was good with juices, breads, pastries, cereals, fruits, yoghurts etc. However the hot food at breakfast was never hot enough and not tasty, but there was plenty of other food to fill up on. Don't even try the buffet dinner - we knew it had got bad reviews, but tried it anyway. Descriptions were missing from some of the food, and it was cold. There also was not enough choice.
The pool area was excellent, I found the sun loungers very comfortable and think it is common practice to put a towel on a sun lounger, when lying on it. The towels were brand new and you could change these throughout the day. The poolside bar was good for lunch, salads were surprisingly nice. The pools were very clean and the view from the pool areas onto the beach were beautiful. It would be hard to find another place like it. The boardwalks onto the beach were great to walk on.
Taxis into Albufeira were €12/14 each way, so expensive to go in every night. There was always a 10/15 minute wait for a taxi to arrive and then would take almost 15 mintues to get into Albufeira. The Italian restaurant in the sister hotel across the road was quite good though.
It is a quiet hotel, and while the bar is lovely and they had live music some nights, and had great cocktails, it lacked atmosphere and was dead at times.
The staff weren't trained to a good standard, so this coupled with the food, means it is not a 5 star hotel, and I think they will have to permanently adjust their prices to reflect this. I found most of the reception staff were friendly but all quite young. Some of the bar staff were attentive, however they were sometimes short staffed in the bar, meaning you could be waiting a while to order or pay. The restaurant staff were clueless. On one occasion I asked for a water, and the waitress walked off without asking if my husband wanted anything. Silly little things like this are where the hotel is lacking. But as we got a cheap deal and read the reviews, we knew what to expect so this did not bother us so much.
If you want to go lie in the sun and chill out for the week, this is perfect. However if you're looking for better nightlife, this isn't the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main reception building as this is nearest the construction of the new...
