It seems redundant to echo all of the glorifying reviews of this establishment, however in this case it is justified. I am a frequent reader of Tripadvisor reviews, relying on all of you to influence my travel plans. To my discredit, never once have I been inspired (for better or worse) to make an actual contribution to this forum, that is until my wife and I were swept off of our feet by the warmness and hospitality of the proprietors and staff of this wonderful Inn. A few weeks prior to our arrival I wrote to the Innkeepers to advise that we would be on our honeymoon, and thus requesting a room in a quieter area. With all of the packing and planning for our trip I completely forgot that I made this request and never heard back. Upon our arrival after an abundantly warm and courteous welcome we were shown to our room, which I'm assuming was a complimentary upgrade based on the size (and gorgeous private outdoor porch), where a chilled bottle of champagne and a basket of local fruits awaited us. They remembered, went out of their way to do something extremely generous about it, and made me look like some sort of romance hero to my wife.
Beyond the impeccable service level and gracious owners and staff, the infrastructure itself was divine. A picturesque villa-style respite within a cozy nook of the old city walls provided an ideal home base for Evora escapades. There is a complimentary parking underground parking area which we simply left our car in for the entirety of the stay. The breakfast may have been the biggest surprise. The owners obviously are either closet (of full blown) foodies because the quality of the food that we were served was superb. Everything at breakfast was "local/artisan" (cheeses, meats including black pork sausage!, pastries) and the owner was chalk full of great restaurant recommendations and local insights. Needless to say we will undoubtedly be back to visit our newfound friends at Albergaria do Calvario.
