Pousada dos Lois is the best of the pousadas we stayed in during our trip in Portugal. The staff is warm and helpful, the rooms we had were very nice (superior level, not deluxe which would have been even nicer) and the breakfast buffet was terrific in a beautiful setting. We didn't have dinner at the restaurant, having recommendations a short walk away. But we did enjoy the bar area and lounge, and the location is perfect for both exploring Evora and doing day trips to surrounding towns of interest. If you have a car they park it for you so that makes it easy. Unfortunately it was too cold to use the pool area, which was inviting, and I would imagine during busy summer months you might encounter small tour groups here, but when we visited it didn't feel like a tourist attraction, just a beautiful small working town and a calm hotel in which to relax.

We stayed in the Pousada for two nights as part of a Smithsonian tour. The building is a converted monastery across from the Roman Temple--in the walled city. The location is perfect.
We loved the ancient building and the public rooms. This hotel is not for everyone--it is for people who enjoy being in a charming historical building. The rooms are converted monk cells--so some are small. They do vary. Ours was small and overlooked the pool. The public rooms are beautiful. I have enclosed some photographs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is very good. We ate breakfasts and dinners here. I loved the town--very charming and historical. And it is fun to be inside the walls in such a good location. We went to the churches, enjoyed very much the walk around town and the shops.

The hotel is beautiful, right in front of the Diana Temple, the historic setting and old furniture are great, but the restaurant is terrible. The food was cold, unseasoned, and very expensive for the quality offered. We can't recommend it, it's a shame how such a lovely hotel has such a bad restaurant.

This place has the perfect location in Evora. You won't get any closer to the temple of Diana which is right in front of hotel. We visited during Holy Week and the place was desserted. We booked two rooms since we were traveling with our kids, the rooms need a big TLC right about now. The paint in both rooms was bubbly from humidity, the carpet was disgusting with stain spots and very run down. We had problems with our heater and the hot water (one day came out yellow) but this last issue I'm sure if no ones fault since the pipes must be really old. The food was good and the place has charming but I would definately not return here. The staff was attentive and help us with resrvations at some wineries but the place itself was not my favorite in Portugal.
