The hotel building is beautiful, well decorated with lots of original pieces and antiques from the offices of the old mining company.
Our room was simple, but nice. It had a wonderful veranda, with a view to the river beach.
Everything was very clean.
The first night we ate at the hotel's restaurant. I don't recommend it. The service was amateur. The meal I ordered, a regional and typical dish ("açorda"), was terrible. We paid far too much for the quality of the food and service.
Next day, we ate at the restaurant in front of the hotel. The food was wonderful! And most of the hotel's guests we had seen were eating there also.
I liked having free wifi.
I also liked the lovely ladies in the reception, all very kind.
This region of Alentejo is particularly beautiful. It is such a pitty that the hotel gives so little information of what to see in the area. We asked and we were given only a printed map of the village of Mina de S. Domingos, from their own website.
I'm sorry, but for me a hotel is more than a building. And this lovely place deserved a better service.
