“Expensive. All rooms have connection doors to the next room :(”
This a great concept for an hotel, right in the middle of nowhere in the south part of Alentejo’s region – with amazing landscapes, full of vineyards and olive fields, animals, great food and wine, lovely people… however…
Those rooms with connecting doors to the next rooms are simply terrible, great for couples with children but awful for couples without kids or every kind of people that wants a peaceful stay. We had to change room after the first night to a room with 2 connecting doors to the side rooms (because all the rooms have connecting doors) but at least we hadn’t couples with kids in the side rooms.
Being 30 kms from Beja, the closest major city, there’s nothing near like cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries… so you have to drive a bit to reach something you need.
Hotel’s restaurant and bar are expensive, there’s a spa with pool where you have to pay too, there’s a lot of activities to entertain adults and kids but most of all are exaggeratedly paid (bikes, 4 wheel motorcycles, skeet shooting…) except the 1 hour walking track through the vineyards and the wine cellar, all guided and free.
The hotel is interesting, very typical from Alentejo, the property with 1600ha is lovely, the staff is very kind and friendly (the hotel manager lady was the less kind – she has lot to learn with fellow workers) but the room, although being traditional, spacious and clean, aren’t very cozy and comfortable.
The price was 85€ for a double with breakfast - fortunately I had some vouchers, otherwise I would had regret to pay it.
I loved the region, the people, the property, but I can’t recommend staying in the hotel unless you have kids and you don’t bother to pay greatly for a couple of days. There’s a lot of places more interesting to stay in Alentejo.
