“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

Stayed here for one night, and was disappointed. When we first entered the room it looked very modern, stylish, but it was tiny. The double bed was small, and too bouncy for 2 people to comfortably sleep on. There was just one pillow on the bed, I looked inside the wardrobe to see if there was another pillow. There was one, screwed up in a ball at the back of the top shelf, in front of the pillow was a half eaten packet of crisps. This immediately made me think maybe the cleaning isn't very thorough, although the rest of the room looked clean. It would have been better to put 2 pillows on the bed as 2 of us were booked in.
During the night I really slept badly, the room was really cold, I had to put a jumper on and the blanket from the wardrobe, which was rough. I got up to try to put the heating on, found what looked like a thermostat on the wall, but when I put it on it made a massive loud noise so I had to switch it off again. Every time I got up and swung my legs out of the bed my toe hit the desk, which was sooooo painful. Got a massive bruise! In my opinion in a room that small it would be better not to have so much large furniture. I would rather have had a larger bed than a gigantic wardrobe, desk and chairs and dressing tables etc. There was so little floor space there was nowhere to put our cases and I had to put some items in the bath just because there wasn't any floor space.
The bathroom looked modern, but there was a fault with the wc. When we flushed it the water just kept continuously coming through for about 20 minutes, which was really noisy.
On a positive note it is located on the main square in a lovely old building, and the staff were pleasant.

“Choose your room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

We booked via the internet specifically requiring air conditioning-we had also stayed prevoiusly and knew the rooms had it fitted. The weather was warm for the time of year and we anticipated the need to have the windows closed if there was any noise from the busy square on a Saturday night.
When we arrived we were shown to a newly renovated room with an a/c unit, but bare wires protruding from the wall at the site of the control box. When we requested an alternative we were next shown a very small room with window opening onto a deep narrow well adjacent to the next building, entirely enclosed and floored by the restaurant roof with an extractor hood-as well as being a source of fumes and heat, there are obvious implications fo fire safety! There was a control box on the a/c here but the unit did not work! We next saw a damp, neglected, smelly attic room, and I therefore went out to look at other hotels. The surly female receptionist had by this time disputed that there was anything wrong with the rooms, and said that we would forefeit the first night`s cost.
By the time I had returned,my wife had unearthed the manager, who reprimanded the receptionist, and corrected the a/c problem by turning on the main switch! He showed us a fine room ,of modest size but clean and renovated, with a view of the square.
We had a pleasant stay subsequently, apart fom a few scowls from the front desk. The central location gives a choice of many restaurants for dinner (we used Cesar`s),and there is plenty to see in the town-we visited a fair adjacent to the new museum. The hotel breakfast is a cold buffet of satisfactory coice and quality.
There is a free taxi service in the locality, including Kortrijk airport. We would certainly stay here again, but would specify an external room. I think the attic rooms will be renovated soon,so that they would be ok in future.

“Great location but not much else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

Right on the market, the location couldn't be better. But the room was tiny, no comfortable chair, nowhere to put luggage, and a strange burning smell in the bathroom. Unhelpful staff. And for the price they could at least have a kettle. Does have free internet.

“Great Hotel in Kortrijk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2009

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2009. The location is fantastic - right on the main square (about 5-10 mins walk from the railway station).

The room was very good and of a reasonable size. It looks like it was recently completely refurbished and the aircon hadn't been hooked up but it wasn't warm enough for this to be a concern (the aircon was to be hooked up a few days after we left).

Originally we were to stay in Ieper (Ypres) but we couldn't get any decent, reasonably priced accommodation there. We ended up being glad about this as we really enjoyed Kortrijk and a day trip to Ieper was easily enough achieved as it's only 30 mins by train.

We booked through the hotel website and got a very good deal of around €220 for 3 nights including breakfast.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and they offer free wireless internet.

We ate one meal in the restaurant (on our last night there) and though it was a bit pricey it was very good.

The breakfasts were adequate.

I'd stay here again without hesitation.

“Awesome experience”

We stayed in the Best Western Belford Hotel for business purposes. We were participating in a convention at the Kortrijk Expo.
I booked this hotel month ahead and did get a 35 % discount ( no cancellations allowed though ).
The hotel is easy to find. It's on the Market , right in the centre. The location is absolutely perfect.
The staff in the hotel is great. Very friendly people , no effort seems too much.
The hotel is totally renovated . At least the rooms are totally new and spotless clean. The only thing which I take a point off , the room itself is not very big. But that's a typical European quality.

FREE wireless internet in the hotel , which worked FLAWLESS !!! Very fast and reliable.

Breakfast was included in the rate lso. It was a continental breakfast , the usual rolls , cheeses etc. Quite good although I every once in a while like a hot breakfast.

Dinner at night is a little pricy. The quality is excellent though ! There are dozens of restaurants in the area though to choose from ( there is an excellent Chinese restaurant right across the street ! ).

The best thing is the hotel has FREE taxi service in a 15 km radius ( 9 miles ). We couldn't believe it. We had to take taxi's to and from the Expo and that alone saved us 20 Euro's each day. And there's no limit to the use of taxi's. It's just awesome they offer this service.

The hotel is located right in the centre. All the stores , sights are in walking distance.

Parking is a little difficult being in the centre. The hotel offered a free space in a side street. But it was so empty I didn't feel like parking there. I drove a few blocks every night and did eventually find a space in the mainstreet. Parking is free at night ( starting at 6 PM )

Concluding this is a great hotel.
